How to explain car detailing on air for 45 minutes?

Hello friends

sunny greetings from Mauritius.:)

As the title above, I've been asked by a friend who works at the local radio station to a live radio broadcast on car detailing. (on Friday 28th February more precisely)

Car detailing is slowly becoming known in Mauritius and mostly, there are roadside car washes here, and people do not really know what detailing is all about and the correct way to take care of their rides.

For myself, I detail on the side, more of a passion, a hobby than a job.

i would like to have your opinion, your insight on the subject, or a structure on how to proceed with the same.

Any help would be most welcome and appreciated.

Many thanks

Zaid

I'm not sure how I could help you, to be honest... I could talk about detailing for DAYS. I would start with the basics, describe swirl marks, how to avoid them, how to remove them, how to protect your paint... That would easily take me 45 minutes, but lets say that takes 15 minutes...

Then talk about basic interior care, again, another easy 15 minutes. If you start off talking about the basic myths of detailing, that would easily take the first 15 minutes :)

Just some random thoughts!

That would be easy for me.
...but it comes down to you...your experience..coatings..compounds, polishes, various paints, waxes, sealants.....list goes on and on....45 minutes I would be just getting warmed up

You could break down detailing in 3 basic chunks; cleaning, correcting, protecting. This is sort of an outline of how you could approach it.

1. Cleaning
a. The wrong way and the right way to wash and dry
b. Mechanical and chemical decontamination (clay, iron remover liquid, etc.)
c. Wheel, tire, and arch care
d. Discuss any advanced cleaning methods for interior such as steam, extraction, ozone, etc.

2. Correcting
a. Clear coat 101; describe what it is, how and why it gets damaged, and then with following points describe how it can be repaired and beautified
b. Correction methods; sanding, compounding, polishing, finishing
c. Explain how it isn’t waxing
d. Promote benefit over glazing or waxing

3. Protection
a. Waxes
b. Sealants
c. Coatings
d. Clear bras
e. Benefits, comparisons
f. Interior stuff

Hope this helps in some way.
