I will start by saying. One of the must have as a detailer is to own a nice size canopy. I own a 10 x 15. I bought this one online many years ago. It should be aluminum frame. This way you don't have to worry about rust issues while washing cars. I only replace the tarp every 3 to 4 years. i set this up in less then 5 minutes. I also put some wheels with breaks on it so I can roll it around. The wheels help it fold and unfold very easy.

And if someone were to have a garage I attach it as close to the garage entrance. This way I can wash the car and then put it back in the garage. I always have shade. It also helps if it's raining I can still wash and work without any delays..

Also while your detailing in front of your customers homes drive by traffic will see you working. People will stop and ask questions.

Have your business cards ready! Put signs hanging from your set up or from the lawn so people can call you. Also here in south florida it gets very hot. I like to make sure that my customers cars paint are cool enough to wash. I check first with a digital pro laser thermonitor for heated surfaces or rims. The canopy will also keep you safe from the sun. Some days like today we get some rain. But I can still work from my canopy. Some people don't have car ports or garages.

Great ideas Eddy. I need to get some kind of signage to put out when I am on location detailing. When I am working out of a clients garage, I always notice the neighbors looking to see what is going on as they drive by.

Yes staying out of the heat is a must when you can.

My wife and I also do Arts and Craft shows.
During the spring and summer months, heat is a problem.
We found a battery operated fan by Ryobi at Home Depot.

It's part of whole line of cordless tools they have, drills, grinders, etc.
But, it uses an 18volt battery that charges really quick and the fan runs for something like 8hrs per charge.
It's only about 15 inches across, and folds up, so it takes up very little space in the trailer.

I also have a Nomad 18V Portable Power Cleaner that I will fill with Deionized water (either from my CRSpotless system, or from jugs bought at the grocery store) I use this for a nice final spot free rinse!

The Nomad 18V Portable Power Cleaner is also nice for places where I don't have easy access to a hose as I can fill that up and either run it off of the battery or plug it into the car if needed. It's really a nice little unit.

It's also great for trips with the kids to the beach or mountains because I can rinse them or their shoes off before they track everything back into the car!

And I almost forgot! It uses the same 18V battery as the Ryobi stuff too!
