How to clean wool pad after polishing

What is the best way to clean the black residue from a wool polish pad after polishing aluminum wheels.This stuff is tough to clean up. Or should I just take pad off and stick it inside a zip lock bag until next time I use it. Thanks for any advise

As long as your only using it for wheels in the future, I would just spur it out with a pad cleaning brush before it's next use.

Just clean it with a pad spur,And keep it a zip lok bag.
