how to clean or remove rust proofing?

i was wondering if anyone knows how to clean or remove that rust proofing stuff that the manufacturer puts on the door hinges and bolts and stuff to protect againts rust.it used to be more of a white color and now its greasy black looking.thanks

By using a non-caustic, acid-free, citrus based, biodegradable citrus cleaner (P21S Total Auto Wash) will avoid any damage and safely remove the Cosmoline, or any oils or grease that may have been applied for protection.

I would go to the local undercoating dealer (Ziebart ect.) and get what they use for overspray.
