How to apply thin plastic sheeting over carpet?

A customer is wanting adhesive-backed plastic applied to carpets on used cars in inventory. They say "do not remove except by dealer" and look like this:

I am STRUGGLING with this. The sheets wrinkle and bunch up, and I cannot lay them flat. If there is any wind in the area, they fold over and are ruined...very sticky stuff.

What's the trick? Apply wax paper to the sticky side then peel off as I apply?

Cut a piece of plywood 1/8" thick and 1" smaller on all sides than the plastic. Place the piece of wood on the non sticky side of the plastic placing one hand on the top of each corner and pull it up towards you (I assume its on a dispenser with a dowl through it) and fold it over and then tear it off when you see the perforation. Walk it over to the vehicle and lay the long side down against the console and then take out the wood and lay down the other side. Have a cloth in your pocket. Take the cloth and smooth it out to remove all the air.

I use 3M #45 spray adhesive from Home Depot as a prep for the carpet with a light spray before I put down the plastic.

i use this stuff also. If you have 2 people it works out well, otherwise i recommend getting a dispenser so you can pull it off the roll. Once you get it ripped off the roll, the easiest way to do it that i have found is to fold the piece in half to move it to the car and then carefully lay it on the floor. Yes i do know that this stuff can be a pain the ***, we have one dealer account also that requests the stuff.

They Make a dispenser for this.

The trick to applying it:

Take a tube from some giftwrapping paper, cut it down to 18, 20, or 24 in (average it out for cars because mine is for big rigs)

as you unroll it from the big roll, roll it up onto your small tube.

then you can unroll it from your small tube onto the carpet of your cars
