Oct 24, 2003 #4 J jr weeks New member One comparison on the thickness of oem clearcoat (or S/S urethane) only (not counting basecoat, primer, E-coat etc.) is this; 1.7 to 2.0 Mils =average clearcoat film build or average S/S topcoat. 2.0 Mils = 50 microns 50 microns = width of a human baby's hair or fine adult hair. Pretty darn thin.
