How often do you wash?

Thinkweb, why did I suspect that this thread would result in you trying to bait someone with your master of the universe position. You must be seriously bored. I think you lead the league in deleted posts. Since you know so much I suggest you start your own website and lecture to yourself. BTW some anger management courses could prove to be the best investment you ever made. :bigups

Thinkweb has done this on other threads because this is the only way he can get people to talk to him. So sad. :(

Now you're calling me a newbie? I have not directed one insult at you and you have already thrown 2 or 3 at me? Why?

But to answer you insult, if you feel that my recent addition constitutes being a newbie so be it. You know, detailing extends outside of internet forums. Boy, did you stop to think I learned to detail at a shop through college? Probably not. Not everyone scrims through Davids detailing articles and calls themselves pro's.

So if you think I'm a newbie, so be it.

See what I mean.

Okay, you win. You are obviously interested in adding a great deal to this forum. Forgive me for calling you a newbie. Your knowledge is far superior. Good day, sir.

Once a week, since my truck only gets driven on the weekends (college boy), but my mom just came up to take my tv and junk home (cant fit it all in the truck) along with my detailing supplies. That means that my truck will not be washed for a total of 2.5 weeks!!!! AHHHH Im gonna go nuts!

Once a week here, unless it gets dirty....usually I don't drive it that much (10-15 miles a day, 4-5 days a week), so it doesn't get that dirty, just dusty. If it rains, or if I'm on the highway and slaughter a lot of bugs, I'll wash it.

Once a week for me. But sometimes its on a wednesday and the following week a monday or thursday so not that long between washes.

I spend a few hours every day working on the beast, mostly with my improved version of 3M GE and rust proofing the chassis etc

I vacuum three times a week as where I work is extremely dirty(farm)

She gets stored in a carport all the time. Honestly, some people are silly. They think that everyone lives in the cities/suburbs where there is nothing but blacktop and concrete. I'm living on my 15 acre farm and the gravel driveway is a dustmaker during summer. Dust even gets in the garage.

It's a water wash only also to keep the paint silky smooth.

Since I began getting seriously interested in detailing, my car has gotten better and better. The paint is ten times better than it was when new in terms of lustre. Even when it's dusty the lustre shines through.

On occasions, especially last summer, I have detailed it up to three times a week due to dusty driveway and the farm. Is winter now an dust has been kept down by rain. I still prefer thin coats of mud over dust.

Usually once a week or sometimes once every two weeks if the weather is bad. It doesn't really get very dirty as I only drive it maybe once during the week and then on weekends, so on average 30-40 miles a week. It's parked outside and I live right under one of the main flight paths so it gets very dusty. Then if it rains I get spots all over the bodywork which looks even worse.

Some professional fast waxes will prevent rain from leaving water dots all over the paint but only works once each application.

SVR, I think the problem is more the dust which settles on the car, and then mixed with rain drops, this turns it almost muddy. As opposed to water spots from the rain.

Plus my parking space is positioned in such a way that it is surrounded by 3 walls, the car never gets drenched enough for the rain to wash off all the dust.

Quoting thinkweb:

Sounds like everyone is almost a couple times a week, atleast! REALLY, no one is concerned about premature paint discoloration?

And then gets offended by:

Discoloration and a minor swirl mark are not the same thing. Clear coat or not, the wording was off and ZaneO was trying to help out. Please leave your attitude at the door when you enter this forum.

OK derekz. Discoloration from washing. Don't think so. especially water only. The paint is better now at 6 years of age.

A car washed regularly means easier washing next time.

as for me i wash the car as required. some weeks i don't go out as much so the rsx is just sleeping in the garage. sometimes i have to do long drives so the car gets dirty and i usually wash after that.

i ESPECIALLY wash after a track day event, no doubt.

so all in all i think as with most people they will wash as the situation arises. cause some days it will only get dusty, while other days like rain or bug season, needs washing often.

i try my hardest to wash once a week. The weather in NJ is very erratic, especially in the spring. I've seen it sunny/pour 3 times in ONE day!

My black wrx is my only car is it gets drivin a lot but it all depends on weather and type of places I go. I stopped parking in the dirt lot at work and that has made the car a lot cleaner.
