how often do you replace your wax applicator pads?

Recycle & save some money...

You can re-use the MF applicator pads once they get a bit worn down...

I carefully cut the seam off one end of the pad, take out the foam, turn it inside out, re-inset the foam & sew up the end.

End result, a new pad & 2 new surfaces to use up before you use for those other purposes or the trash...

Thought I'd share that little tip...

I wash my pads after each waxing session.

Some tough wax like #16 would still be there even after a wash.

I will use that pad to clean my rims during my next car wash.

The agitation between the foam pad and the rims together with APC or degreaser would normally remove any old wax left.

and then throw them into the washer and they are yellow and bright again.

Thanks for the tip guys, i hand washed some new pads i bought that i used w/ nattys blue, they came out alright, but there is still alittle wax in there. I will just have to live with it! I think im gonna have dedicated pads for certain products. Those two pads i used for nattys will always be used for nattys, this way even if there is some wax left over, it shouldnt interfere.

I wash my foam ones in some dilluted APC and that seems to do the trick. I let it soak it in and massage it in then rinse in warm water and they come out great.

For the most part, I've been throwing them out after each use. Certainly wouldn't have to, but the times I've tried to wash them in the washing machine, they tended to disintegrate.

Since I'd been using Z-1 and Z-2, I could use each side of one pad for both products. A four pack of pads would probably last a year for my car. That's what?...$5?

I suppose that I have kept a few around for wheel and door jamb duty.

But perhaps I'll try to handwash a few with Dawn and mark them by what products they were used with to avoid cross contamination.

I use yellow polyfoam pad for waxing. Extreme endurance.

Also I use it to apply 1z Tiefen over my dashboard. ;)

I use the MF applicator pads from Wal-mart. It seems I can use them about 10x then I would use them for applying tire dressing like Z-16.

After each use I would wash them right away with Dawn Power Dissolver and Simple Green and brush the pad. It gets most of it out, but I still think it's safe to use. I have at least 15 MF applicator pads and so far 2 have been regulated to tire dressing purposes. I have a collection of new ones that will last me a long time :)
