How Often Do You Replace Motor Brushes?

I'm sure it says in the owners manual somewhere but we all know that real men don't read instructions.:bigups So how often do you recommend to go between motor brush swapping? I'm sure it's something that is cheap enough that it should be done every season but of course I've had both my PC and Metabo for at least three years without changing either set. After I swap this set out, how long can I go? Is there any tell tale signs that the sets in the polishers are already running low?

Thanks guys,

Shaun

I can only speak for Makita & Black & Decker rotarys. Every 500-600 hours I would disassemble the machines (side covers), blow everything out with compressed air and turn the brushes 180 degrees. I've replaced brushes maybe once or twice because they were worn out. They usually sound noisy when they are totally worn.

Check with Brian @ GL if you ever need your machines serviced. He use to have a low flat rate for repairs.
