how often do you clay YOUR daily driver?

I clay everytime I change LSPs which entails a claying, a light polish (usually FPII) and LSP(s) about every 10-12 weeks. It is usually overkill but for me the extra 20-30 minutes is never a problem.

hmmm, for me it must be really weird or soemthing. i clayed a couple weeks ago, and i felt my car today after a QD and it was almost like sand paper. i was quite disappointed. i didnt expect it to be perfect, but at the same time i didnt think it would be this bad. i clayed again today and tried applying two different sealents in two different places to see if it would make a difference.

maybe i should do a regular wash instead of a QD to see if it makes a difference?

My car is really slick after the 5th coat of Natty's. As of now I don't see any reason for me to clay more often.

thats a tricky question? first is it a dailey driver, second where is it parked
garage/outside and the area you live makes a difference.Only good answer is
put hand inside plastic sandwich bag and feel paint in several spots,if you feel
grit then clay if not skip till next time.there is no one answer to that question.

2x a year. Spring and fall. I do spot clay several times diring the year. Especially on the lowers and bumper.

as often as needed to keep my truck blingin .. its kept in the garage but it is what my work is judged by .. if my truck looks average people will assume thats the kind of work i do...

I agree with LUCKY where is it parked outside or in? This would make a huge difference in the amount of claying.

For me its 3 times a year thats when I remove all the product on the car then do a complete SWR, polish and wax topper, my car is garaged.

I work within a mile and a half from an airport, and I do mine twice a year, even though I should do it a little more.

during the day, my car is outside becuase its parked at school. at night its at home in a garage, but my garage is an open garage (doh!) and at the bottom of a hill where all the dust collects. i drive my car around 30-40 miles daily. still, i think claying every two weeks is a bit much huh? ive also noticed that only my hood and roof and trunk need claying, the sides are very slick. any suggestions? should i go 3 coats of sealent instead of 2?

Definitely worth a shot, as much as I love S&W, when the trees are blooming things sometimes still feel rough until I do a real wash.

Zesty-Man - I wonder if living in paradise (I mean, Hawaii) makes a difference...with all the salt air, wind (blowing dirt, etc) makes a difference.

I'm pretty much the same as everyone else...2x / year, but I live in North Carolina where the winters aren't too bad...

If you are getting alot of the grit on the top of the car (hood, roof, trunk) but not on the sides...it must be from the dust from the garage area...Again, I'm just guessing...seems like it shouldn't be that bad that soon...

Good Luck...let us know how it goes...

Zesty,

Just some recomendations. How often do you wash your car... im assuming often being that you a member here! Also after a full detail what last step product are you using and how many times are you applying it.

If your car gets wet due to rain are you washing it right away?

Just somethings to think about....

I clay the horizontal parts 3 or 4 times a year and the vertical parts 1 or 2 times. Its seems alot but I live buy 2 airports and an airforce base. Lots of planes fly overhead day and night.
