How often are people resorting to Colour /Wet Sanding.

I find that wetsanding a small scratch with 2000 grit is a lot easier that trying to remove it via compounding.
 
With wet sanding a scratch, does this area look "different" than other areas on a vehicle that has alot of "orange peel", like many newer GMs and Nissans?

I am not trying to hi-jack this thread, but I know that there seems to be point-of-contention about removing orange peel via wet sanding and if you sand a scratch that it will remove the orange peel in that area as well, hence making it look slightly "different" than other areas. I don't sand , so I am not qualified to make a valid observation that this would happen or how you would polish this sanded area to "blend" in with the rest of the vehicle. Just a question.

I had this situation on my Yukon, terrible orangepeel and a few areas (in this case touch-ups) that needed wetsanding.



Yes it can look different, especially if you overdo the wetsanding. In cases like that I'd try to do as little sanding as possible, finishing the correction via compounding (which generally doesn't remove orangepeel the way sanding does). I'd sand until things look "better" but not fully corrected, and even then there will, IME, be some diff in texture.
