How much would you pay?

There is a guy I work with who used to own a detail shop. I was going to ask him how much he would charge me to remove the swirls from my car, instead of my buying a PC (because I also want the DC kit at PAC which means everything is going to cost me $300, which I don't exactly have).

So, how much would you pay someone to do this before you would just get the PC? ex. If he says $50, I would probably let him do it. If it was 50% or more of the cost of a PC and pads, I would think I should just get the PC myself.

Suggestions?
 
Its hard to say really what he will charge. Im guessing maybe $100? maybe less? It really depends on the condition. My best advice is to save up and get the pc. If you want to deatil then you shoudl really have a pc. You will never regret buying the pc once you have it as most dcers would agree. The detailer may end up leaving some more defects on your paint (holograms) but of couse that is not for sure at all. You can always buy the buffer from LOwes and buy pads from any of our sponsers or TOL and still spend under 300. just my 2 cents.

A quicky detail is well, just that. It only lasts for a short period of time. The PC and right equipment is like the perfect woman...it just keeps on giving and giving and giving....
 
Anyone here ever do the tool rental from HD or Lowes?

Er, then again you can easily get a brand new PC for relatively cheap or get a used one off a member here.. I saw someone offering an entire PC setup with pads and stuff for about $65 or so, wish I had gotten it.
 
Like it was said , swirls will come back . i charge minimum 100 for swirls . If he says 50 bucks he's giving you a deal or he won't spend alot of time on it.

get a PC , you won't believe how easy they are to use.

I talked to the guy tonight, he said he would do it for $50 - $75. For that I would definitely consider just letting him take care of it for me. I'd say he's just giving me a good deal 1. because we work together, 2. he is retired and just working part time 3. I also assume this is more of a hobby than a job for him at this point. 4. he's nice?

I know the PC would be a good buy, but with school limiting how much I can work right now, that puts spending that much cash out of the question.

Although...school is over in a month and a half, so I could always wait till then, work some extra hrs for a week or two and take that extra money into a PC and stuff.
