How much should I charge?

Im in no way a professional detailer, but I wanted to get a professional's opinion on this. My aunt has a 2000-something white chevy malibu and she has wanted it cleaned for a while. She said she wanted it washed, clayed, and waxed. I was thinking of washing, claying, waxing with probably a carnauba wax. I was also going to clean the engine bay and dress that. Also, clean the carpets and mats and do the rest of the interior. I know she needs paint correction, but Im not going to worry about it because it would be too hard since I dont have a PC yet. But, I was just wondering what a professional would charge to do that?

To wash, clay, clean interior and seal a vehicle I normally charge about $150, for SUV's $40 more and if engine is really dirty about $45 more.

Since she's family, you have to hook them up.

For non-related people I'd charge about $200-$250 price range.

BTW, since you're going to be claying, why not use a stronger wax, like a polymer and not a carnuba that will only last 2-3 weeks. You will get a lot longer durability out of it.

Pricing is a tough one to answer. I would say to use a good AIO product though. Meg's ColorX is a good option by hand.

I would personally use an AIO. Like XMT 360 to seal it.

For a wash/dry/clay/seal/Engine/vac mats/dash/vinyl dressed/tires/wheels and wells dressed/glass cleaned.

I would normally charge around $180-$190.

For an actual customer $120-$160, to many variables to seriously answer with an actual number.

For family and if have the free time (which never happens) i would only charge for material costs and a case of beer.

Also, do take in to account your skill level? Does she want the engine bay cleaned and dressed or is that something you are going ahead and doing?

I'm guessing all that stuff would only take about 2-3 hours max and I'd really have a hard time charging my aunt more than $50 for it.

All this is just IMO

Yea, I was thinking. I think Im going to charge her around $50.

I agree. In this particular circumstance (family, you don't do this full time, etc.), $50 sounds pretty good. I would wash, clay, one step (poli-seal, #80, etc.), engine touch up, and a nice clean up on the interior.

I posted my sister in laws el-crapo Topaz in the cnb yesterday. Did that pro-bono, minus the $45 we owed for day care. Family is family. If she wants it to look ideal, charge that $50 or tell her when it comes time to christmas shop, she'd better be remembering your summer gift to her!

Yea, I remember seeing that. My aunt's car looks just as bad. In the couple years she had it, I dont think she ever washed it. It still looked pretty bad when she bought it used.

I agree with Frank. I did my mother in law's Ford, my father in law's Jag, Corvette and MB SL, as well as my sister in law's jeep for free, cause they're family and it's not like I do this full time. Sometimes doing good is it's own reward.
