How much does your PC vibrate?

:sadwavey: I'm just trying to work out if I should throw my Dewalt DW443 away and get a Porters Cable. My Dewalt seams to vibrate quite a bit when I did a test run on a old beater (never use's a Polisher before) and I cannot see how I can use it for a hole day of detailing. Is this normal for all random orbitals or is it even normal for the Dewalt to do this?

Any help in convincing me to do what’s necessary to get a Porters Cable running in Australia would be appreciated

I would not toss the DeWalt for a PC. If you are going to toss the DeWalt and want something that vibrates less and works great try a Cyclo.

Ditto what he said! :2thumbs:

Yeah, plenty of people complain about the PC's vibration too. The Cyclo doesn't have that kind of vibration but it's not the perfect tool for everybody either.

Maybe look into vibration-reducing work gloves, a simple and cheap potential solution.

Oh, and take off any side handle the polisher might have, those tend to transfer and magnify vibration.

How hard are you gripping the machine? When I first used my PC I was gripping it way too hard and I would numb my hands and almost litterly let go of the machine. Just grip it enough to be able to guide the machine. Also get vibration reducing gloves. Here is one I've been looking at, its also made by DeWalt. http://www.safetyglassesusa.com/dpg25.html

Yeah, it vibrates, but it is much less if you take the handle off. I usually put one hand right above the spindle and grip it there, and the other hand is near the back by. I have pretty big hands though, so for me the handle was just too small anyway.

I bought a pair of the best grade mechanics gloves at Sears to help with the vibration from my PC and to provide a better grip as I have size 6 hands (on the smallish side, even for us girls!) They have padded palms but open fingertips, which I think are an advantage. I would find the covered fingertips would feel a bit clumsy. Sears sells 3 three grades of mechanics gloves and I got the top of the line ones for 19.95, if I remember correctly and, of course, there was no shipping as they were at the store. I found them to be much more comfortable when using my PC.

:werd: Definitely makes a difference. My older boy didn't believe me though and insisted I put the handle on for him to use it that way.

Guess how that worked out? ;)

As you can see, a few days later, no handle!

...also, notice the proper technique of having the cord draped over his shoulder. :)

Taking over his old man Scott? When do we see his pics in Click & Brag? :)

My PC vibrates slightly but it never has bothered me...only have used a DeWalt 849 so I can't comment on the original issue.
