:lol :lol Yeah, it gets a little more costly than that!! lets see:

Truck: $8,000

Porter Cable: $120

Dewalt: $150

Products: $ha i lost count,but my accountant knows :)

Graphics on truck: $500

Advertising: Thousands to date

Etc...

My taxes cost $300!! there are a lot of expenses that you need to cover. Gas is a biggie these days too

This isn't a get in cheap get out rich business. Some people like to think it is, but it takes alot to make a little

This is just what I know I have off hand.. and what I think the prices are... but it still shows something. I only really started learning to detail the autopian way 6 months ago (after my interior was mostly clean).

lol, a bit higher than what I was thinking

I try to keep it less than $20 a week for my random auto stuff, oil filters and detailing, etc. So I have to pretty much buy something every week. But I ration it out like that. The most I've ever spent at one time was around $60 for Zaino last year, but generally I keep it as a steady flow.

Obviously, I don't own a PC.

Around $9000 in chemicals and equipment

$ 300 legal start up activities

$ 300 logo design

$ 1100 promotional material

$ 1000 Signage

$ Variable. Truck or fixed location rental

$ 1000 not planned expenses

Depending of how professional and serious are you taking your desicion.

well, i started my detail biz with $100 and the otc products i had in my garage. as of last week according to my accountant i spent nearly $12,000 on supplies alone. what a difference 10years makes - wow!

Hobby only. I started posting and getting into this thing a little over a year ago. I'd estimate I've spent around $1,000 with the PC, a 9227 rotart, lots of towels and experimenting with different products. I've gone through approximately 10 gallons of Spray & Wipe alone. :D

Meh, since I have all of the stuff already, I'm only going to neeed about 130 bucks on supplies, and then I'm set to detail this summer. Only doing about 10 cars, so it should wokr good.

The answer depends on your definition of "1st started."

For me, it was $12 for a bottle of Xymol Cleaner Wax (world's greatest wax according to the tag on the bottle's neck), a terry applicator, and one Polo beach towel torn into small sections.
