How many times can I cut tha paint?

I have a Mazda MX-5 (Miata in the US) with solid red paint (no clear coat). I have used my PC with some good effect & removed most of the swirls using Megs Fine Cut Cleaner, followed by OG Omega glaze & P21S.

Encouraged by my first effort with the PC, I should like to try & remove some more of the scratches accumulated by the previous owners (car is 5 years old, but very good). My question is how many times can I realistically cut the paint with the PC without taking too much off & risk ruining the paint job?

Can you also recommend something a little sronger than the fine cut to reduce the level of the deeper scratches & what's the best machine applied polish to use (will be topped with P21S).

Well a PC removes only a tiny fraction of the paint.

Fine Cut also removes very little.

I would go with something like DACP (if you can find it) - the problem is modern paint is hard as f#%^ and it takes a while to remove any decent size scratches.

As long as its your own time and your own car, just keep at it until your happy with the finish.

The good thing about DACP is its ready to be topped right away if your happy!

I usually run over quickly with AIO before I top off the paint tho.

Are you sure there no clear coat tho??

Smoker,

Yeah, there' definitely no clear on the red Miatas. I did one last year, and using DACP, it left fine red dust over all my clothes, pads and towels. What a nuisance!

Yes as 2wheelsx2 says, no clear coat on the red Mazda. it's a right pain in the rear as all the red dust goes everywhere. I can get all the Megs products in the UK from a very nice guy called Alex Creasy who subscribes to these forums.

If anybody from the UK reads this, you must make contact with Alex he's a great bloke.

DACP is available to order I think.
