How many miles would you drive for a great detail

Tomorrow I feel honored to detail a vehicle for a gentleman who is driving 600 miles to have he vehicle detailed by our shop. He is a previous customer who moved to N. Carolina. In three years he has gone to numerous detail shops in N. Carolina only to be disappointed in the results. He has always flown when he has come back to this area to see his family , until this time. Although his wife is mad he feels the detail will be worth it. This is a real honor when youir customers think of you like this. Remember PASSION PLUS EXECUTION = RESULTS. This is what seperates you from the pack.

Holy cow! 600 miles?? Its 533 miles from Salt Lake City to Lodi, California where my in laws live. I had to drive that once and all I've got to say is "never again". I would much prefer to fly. After he drives the 600 miles back it will need to be detailed all over again. :D

I've flown pretty far to do a detail. I had actually planned a detail day in Toronto last summer. The detail day didn't go through but we went anyway for the BBQ. :) I flew to Virginia to do a friend's car last spring. That was fun. I've been back to Dallas a few times to poach on Anthony O. and Scott's turf. ;) (Don't kill me, guys.) I still think that's pretty cool that you have a client willing to drive that far just to be loyal to your shop. That is a real tribute to your ability. :bow :bow

I had a guy drive from the next state over to do his WS6, Not sure how many miles it was from where he lived in Ohio to my house? Still the farthest I have had anyone come from :)

PS this was taken before the detail, Notice the left tip is still dirty ;)

That's a great statement of customer loyalty, Auto Care. Great job!

A few weeks back when the Spurs won the championship a doctor client told his friend in Florida about me so he was going to drive his new Porsche Turbo from Florida to San Antonio to have me detail it..."Way cool" ... I thought, very honored but then I thought of the trip back to Florida through the bug infested deep south and how that pretty shiny Porsche would look like crap right about as he was driving through the Houston area!

So after you detail the car wrap it in Saran Wrap and then have him drive it home :)

Last December I bought a new BMW, It was very cold here in the Northeast, I could not find anywhere I could wash and wax it in a heated enviroment, I tried everywhere it was just too damn cold. I drove the car 1281 miles to Florida with a bucket and P21S, I swear to GOD this is true.

When people asked where I was headed on the drive I said to Florida, " Got family down there? " they would say, " Nah im going to detail my car, its warmer down there" The looks I got kept me smiling all day, I was so ready for a cop asking me if I got pulled over, can you imagine that conversation, Yea I know I was doing 80 MPH but im on my way to wash my car, cant you give me a break? He probably would have called for backup and Tasered me.

We are a funny bunch

Where did you wash your car in Florida? At a coin op? Just curious

Also, you just went down for 1 day? I mean you didn't bother spending a few days to see the sight see?

Finally, wouldn't you have to wash your car again after your 1281 miles drive from FL back to your house?

I worked with a pair O guys on a job called Neil Armstrong and Roger Moore.

They got pulled over by a cop and nearly ended up in jail cos tyey 'Wouldnt give their real names'.

After numerous forms of ID, passports (they were headed to a heliport to go work offshore) and a coupla phone calls the cop relented and sent them on their way.

About a year later, same cop pulls him over again, Knowing 'James Bond' was driving he made a smart remark about his passenger.

Only this time the passenger was a guy called Kirk Douglas.

I jest ye not lol.

I spent 7 days down there, family has a place in Jupiter that I never visted so I stayed there. I used coin ops, no ther choice for me. I was surprised how clean my car was on the way home after waxing, of course there are no bugs out then so maybe thats why?

I gained a new found respect for Florida people, its hard to keep wax on your car with that weather.....

Well we did the vehicle today. It was a black 2002 Envoy. The customer told us it was worth every mile that he drove. I explained to him that it was such a great honor that he would think that highly of us. The last person to detail that vehicle left white residue in all the cracks and had a ton of it on the luggage rack. The customer left with the biggest smile on his face. He told me he will be back around Thanksgiving He also mentioned all his friends in N. Carolina told him that he was crazy.
