How long between washes?

Im' wondering how long you all go between washes on your daily driver, assuming you QD your ride every 2-3 days. I'm not talking about missing a regular wash here and there because of your hectic schedule -- I'm talking about the normal time you go between washes.

I'm asking because my paint is in great condition, and has a good shine. I do the wash/clean/polish/wax regimen twice yearly, but I go 3 weeks between washes. I QD every 3-4 days, and the car is garaged when I'm not driving it. Is this "pushing it" or is this in line with what many of you do? Just wondering.

I don't know about you guys, but I wash about 2-3 times a day. J/K;) 3 weeks seems a bit long to just QD in between. The longest I went was 2 weeks. I normally try and wash once a week and QD every morning before I go to work. I don't know what your situation is. I know you said you garage when you're not driving, but is this a daily driver? Is it garaged at work? How long is your drive? For me, 3 days worth of driving would be a dangerous QD job and just asking for swirls. Maybe provide some more info and we can answer better.

more info.

1) daily driver

2) garaged at work

3) garaged at home

4) not driven on weekends

5) pearl white (hides dirt & swirls really well <--- a blessing & a curse :D

6) QD every 3-4 days

On the rare times of the year that I actually have time to QD my car regularly (including the rims), I can go 3-4 weeks without washing my daily drivers. I still have to vacuum and detail the interior weekly though. When NOT QDing regularly, I wash the cars every weekend.

I do agree with StLB5 however, in that you should probably QD a little more frequently than just once every 3-4 days.

Well, in LA you may be able to get away with 3 week intervals. I'd definitely recommend QD'ing a lot more frequently if you want to go that long. Just my opinion, but I'd QD at least every other day, preferably everyday. I've got a black car and we went without rain for a couple weeks and I was able to get away with QDing everyday and skipping a week of washing. Just be careful.

Yeah, sometimes I forget just how good we have it here in Los Angeles. I think it's rained like twice this year...maybe 3 times max. But yes, once it rains...forget about QDing your car. After driving your car in rain, rinse it off immediately (or even wash it), drive it into the garage and towel-dry it.

just wash your car once a week so your not using as much qd. I personally qd after my washing, and ill qd areas that need a touch up, but not the whole car bc id rather wash it to make sure its clean!!!

Yeah, count your blessings, lucky bast... Anyway, I just moved to Chicago. No more garaged work parking, plus there's all kinds of construction going on around here, plus it's almost winter time so that means salt, salt, salt. Why did I move up here??? Oh yeah, better job=better future=more $$=more car products. Woo Hoo!!!

I wash once a week (every two weeks when one of the car sits in the garage for a week at a time). I was Like you where I would substitute qding for washing (it takes me 1-1 1/2hrs after all) but realized that swirl marks were being created. The best would be to wash once a week. 2nd best would be using a cal car duster to lightly pick the dust up before qding(this will dramatically reduce the chances of creating swirl marks). Hope that helps.

every other week on a daily driver thats outside all the time. I alternate weeks on my gfs car and on mine. they are both white which really does hide the dirt.

no qd, just klasse. car already has a minor share of swirls and scratches, and it continues to get them, but they all hide retty well. I can't justify the time for daily washings. I really wish I could do more regular cleanings, but in dry city, it really doesn't get all that bad.
