Hi,

A friend of mine is about to buy a car - its just having some paint done to it - in two pack paint.

How long before he can start to apply product?

Is something like VM ok to apply?

No, don't use the VM for at least a month or two- it contains wax. Gotta wait until the paint finishes "out-gassing", i.e., curing.

Use something specifically designed for use on fresh paint. I never know for sure what products you have available across the pond, but 3M's Imperial Hand Glaze and Meguiar's #3/#5/#7/#81 are all nonabrasive and safe for use on fresh paint while it cures. If you need to remove any marring (scratches, swirls, etc.) a good choice is Meg's #80. It has some abrasives that work well by hand and it's also safe for fresh paint. Do use *something*, as a little protection is better than none, just avoid waxes and sealants for a while.

Almost all the products which you guy can buy, we just have to search harder

JCarruthers- Yeah, use any of the products I listed. Their protection is minimal and they'll have to be reapplied after each wash/heavy rain. Still better than nothing.

LoweJackson- Yeah, it's just that "search harder" part that I'm never sure about. But I always figure that Meguiar's is a pretty safe line to recommend anywhere.
