How is Winter Business?

Well I detailed here and there during the summer and now that I'm at school I'm wondering what route to take. I've looked around for a regular old job that fits my needs and haven't found anything so I'm considering detailing throughout the school year.

Problem is, will I get any business in the winter? Personally, I'm all about keeping your car clean through the winter and keeping it protected but I know a lot of people that don't do anything to their car because it will just get dirty again. Is this how most people think?

I will also be on a college campus and while professors/locals/parents may be decent customers I am assuming other students won't. Is this a bad assumption?

Mainly I've been looking at renting a one or two car garage but can't go into debt at all right now so I would have to get a few details a month at least.

Any thoughts?

you just have to market differently. I have a fair amount of business in the winter because I stress the importance of getting the salt off the car.

If customers tell me it is just going to get dirty again, I usually will point out the fact that a clean car will eventually get dirty. They seem very receptive to that.

It does get slow during the winter, so you can try marketing to dealerships and body shops as well

That too...I think it definitely gets colder in PA than OK. BUT, I tell my clients that as long as it is about 32 degrees I will come clean their car...VERY bundled up! lol

I like the ideas of different marketing strategies. Personally, I'll put a few quarters in the car wash place just to use the high pressure wash to rinse off my car/the bottom of the car.

And ya, I completely forgot about how cold it will get lol! My Dad rents a garage and recently moved from another that was FREEZING in the winter and soo hot in the summer. That would be miserable, especially working with no gloves/etc. and water. I guess if I have a small garage I could heat it up some though.

Thanks for the input, guys.
