How is #16 on Black?

I am detailing a black Toyota Tacoma tomorrow(weather permitting) and I just received my #16. I was wondering if anyone applied this to a black car and how were the results?

It should be outstanding, as long as the prep is good. The pics I've seen are awesome, a deep shine. Keep in mind this is old school, hard wax. I assume you've read up on "proper" application here. What will be the total process?

Post pics after. :)

Wash

Clay

Either #83 followed by #80 depending on swirls, defects, etc

If #80 is sufficient, then topped w/ VM then #16

I read up on #16, I just don't think I've seen any pics....

I think this combo should turn out nice.

#16 looks great on black, especially over VM. Very clear and wet look.

You can click on the link in my sig and dig through my photohost gallery for some #16 pics but good luck, I've got about 750 pics there. I do include the products used with each car though. ;)

I've had #16 act up on me with black when I pull it out in the sun and the paint gets hot it reskins itself and gets hazy in spots. But the look is worth it and a wash will clean it up(same problem Jesstzn had).So far I haven't noticed it with red yet. Here's a shot of #16 x 2 on my hood.

I've had that heat related hazing happen with Souveran and Nattys (both cases were very minor) and I feel the main reason is putting it on too thick or wiping off the excess too quickly. A quick wash does take care of it though.

Never had it happen with #16 though. Seems it would happen more with it since it is a heavy wax. :nixweiss

Cont' from original post....

I decided to top w/ NXT Because I want to play w/ #16 on my vehicles first to get a feel for it so to speak. I should have pics up tomorrow night. I was a little nervous w/ the humidity so high today that I would have spent alot of time dealing w/ the #16 if I put it on to thick and so forth. I do appreciate the tips though.

Hi General Lee

I am a newby on this site and about car products.

I have a black 2001 F150(Ford PickUp truck) and... it still shines when I get it waxed or polished... but somehow it doesn't have the enough shine that makes you say simply ".. is new".

I don't care too much about the scratches.(if you get a 2005 truck and scratch it on several places... it will still look like a new scratched truck )

I mean the color is there...,

I hope/guess that there could be some kind of liquid or substance that works like a coat over the paint.

I do have the idea but I don't know EXACTLY what WAX / Polish / clay / etc. are

Do you happen to know an extreme makeover way to bring back that brand new shine to my Black truck.

Something like..

"I recommend you this..

Buy this n that n that..

First do this, then that, wait for this, then add another of the first one.. etc."

Any ideas..?

Thank you very much

Giorgio,

The best thing I can say is do what Laughunn said. This site has alot of information to offer and you will learn alot. There are so many products out there that will give you different results. You have to find what "look" you are after and start there. This site has alot of photos as well and most of them list the products that were used.

If you find some products you want to try and have some questions, don't hesitate to ask. Plenty of people on here will chime in and offer their knowledge.
