How important is pre-cleaning/polishing?

I was wondering how important it is that I use Platinums paint pre-cleaner before I apply the ultimate paint protection. I will be claying first. Will it really make a difference in appearance on most cars? Thanks

I'd answer this by asking - how important is a foundation to a house? It's highly significant; if it's not constructed properly the house will not be sound.

The same principle applies to proper paint prep. as it is the foundation to your cars appearance. I would not advise skipping steps such as the pre-cleaner when you are looking at a regime of proper paint care.

I did a car this past summer which needed some work. I just finished using MMPPC, and started with DACP when the neighbors asked what kind of wax I using to make the car look new. I told the neighbor, that I was not at the protecting stage. I explained to the neighbor that prep 90% percent of the job. Start with a good foundation and the end result will be 100% better.

I think Intel has pictures of a truck which is just polished.

After you get your prep work done, you are good to go for a while, generally. Add more layers of sealant and/or carnauba after you wash it or QD it for several months to come before having to do all the steps again.
