After reads many many posts about backing plates and pads.
How important is it that a 6.5 pad is completely centered on a 5 backing plate?
other than it will virbate a bit?

Someone else may know something I dont, but from my experience I would say nothing but the vibration. It may spit a little more wax around.
If youre using a PC it really doesnt matter, because the drive on it is off centered in the first place

I try my best to keep pads as centered as possable

Same question occurred to me and it appears to be a moot point.

So I bought a 6" backing plate which enabled me to pickup some 7.5" LC Variable Contour pads which will practically center the backing plate on the recessed foam pad's velcro.

Since then I've found that Sonus pads have a similar recess & they work with a 5" flexible backing plate.
I've never used Sonus products so I can't say anything about them.

:yeah . It will vibrate and wobble with it off center.

If the pads not centered it will also lead to more swirling. Here's a trick I do that helps...

Once you have your pad centered, turn it over and with a permanent marker (a sharpie works best) pull the trigger and make a circle on the back of the pad around the backing plate. Then cross the line with a mark on the backing plate and onto the pad. If you don't have more than one backing plate, this will help center the pads next time.

Dr. Detail,
I was thinking about that ...
I just did'nt know how important it was
Thanks to all...
