How good is zaino really?

From what I've been reading on the forums so far, it's looking like Duragloss is gaining momentum as a replacement/equivalent for Zaino. If this is continuing to be the case, I would say a new breakthrough from Zaino ought to come out sooner than later. :nixweiss
They are introducing nano sealant soon!

When I get bored with every product on the market looking the same, I switch to Zaino Z2 or Z5. It has the most reflective look of any product. A nube lets you look into the paint. Zaino reflects like none other. Also make the paint feel very slick to the touch.

You can polish a car to perfection and throw some Fuzion or Blackfire on it and it feels the same. Polish and apply Zaino and the paint feels super slick.

Honestly, on black there is nothing like it. Reflection is amazing especially the more coats you apply. But compared to Fuzion or Blackfire it is a bit more difficult.

Its nice to have around if you really want a different look on your paint.

Zaino is one of those products where beauty in the eye of the beholder. According to my eyes, Z2 has a very clear, high gloss appearance - looks like the clear coat is very "thick". Besides that, durability is near the top when not considering the newer coating technologies.

I didn't like it at all in the Buffalo area(maybe different water) it didn't do a single thing for any sort of protection from even light waterspotting - great look, good durability, but compared to other things it really didn't protect like I expect it to.

Funny alot of potential customers are drawn into the 10 billion layers and wiping the paint a million times etc etc but then question why it still is damaged but then add more layers etc... its weird from the enthusiast forums alot of "stuff" is passed around to make alot of people in my area think zaino is like glass coating and should protect against everything...never seen or heard that about any other LSP system before.

..though ZAIO is pretty nice.

David(ferg), got your PM BTW, will get back to you soon - what a situation :) !

Yep, I've had similar issues. Bugs and bird bombs etch extra fast when using Zaino. And I guess there is truth in advertising because Sal does say its a show car polish, not a daily driver polish.

For me it was the same. Here in Hungary we have a lot harsher environment than western countries or the US. The rain a lot dirtier, we have a lot more diesel fumes, so the traffic film is far more stubborn. Combine this with greasy fat bugs, and that means that here the Z range can't protect well enough.

I think that some acrylics have even more mirrory reflections than Z2Pro. Besides, on my beater car (dry, permeable, old) ZFX'd Z2Pro×2/Z8 was finished after 2 months.

Fuzion and Z5 look pretty similar. Maybe I've been using Zaino too long, but I don't understand the "hard to use" camp. Do a decon and then a 3 stage polish and tell me slapping on Zaino is tough...lol. ZAIO is a favorite of mine, it looks amazing and if I was smart, I'd dump my closet full of stuff and just stick with that. If love love detailing, Zaino is just one of those things you have to try. TOGWT stated there are better (or more appropriately more modern) products, but IMO, there is nothing more in your face than Z2. If someone put a gun to my head and said, gimmie the most shine possible, I'd grab Z2.

One thing that doesn't get mentioned enough is Zaino is near bottom of the barrel for protection from bird bombs and other things that etch your paint.

Man, I remember my very first time trying z2pro. I did the abc decon, did a claying, did intensive polish followed by 106ff, did another wash to get off the polish residue, and I did the z2pro.

Holy cow, It was terrible. It was so bad trying to apply by hand, I had to resort to applying with the pc (which was just marginally better). Half an hour later, I finally figured it all out, and it was smooth sailing after that.

As far as the look, it definitely takes wow to another level. Ive seen it used on beaters that didnt get polished and it got folks attention, so one could imagine the stares my lil non-descript focus got with properly prepped paint, and z2pro to boot. Out of all my lsps' z2pro is the best looking of the bunch. Yeah, it really isnt good against bird poop, so Id usually try to get 3-4 nice coats, then use CWM, EX, or one of the paste waxes just for that lil extra barrier during the spring summer months, strip it all down in the fall, and just use it straight during the winter months.

If the duragloss stuff is really as good as the zaino stuff, I might have to look into that.

DG makes great stuff all around. Just go for it :). The entire line basically is completely underpriced compared to some of the products on that market that command double their cost.

Thats a great point lol.

Bence, what are your cars wearing currently?

It would be wise to consider that bird crap and water spot etching have different characteristics during different times of the year. Birds do eat different "foods" as the seasons change, so while bird droppings may sit on your car for a few days and never etch during one season, a few hours may produce deep etching during another season.

My final point would be that unless you are running zaino and another product 50/50 on your car, you can really qualify that one product would protect better then the other under the same conditions.

I think the wet glass, or really thick clear look describes what I see.

I've never been that impressed with the Z2-Z5 and really have a love hate relationship with it. The last time I used it was on my clients wife's car. When I did his own vehicle I used Blackfire Wet-Diamond and on his wife car I used 3 coats of Z2 and topped it with Z8. Owner said he liked the Blackfire a lot more....actually he's a member of the forum now (Phishy4) so maybe he'll chime in. :)

I do like the ZAIO, Z6, and Z8 though.
