how fast will waterspots eat thru zaino topped with s100

the other day i left my car outside and it rained on it then the sun came out and etched some waterspots into my car. Now I have zainoed and topped with s100 like a month and a half ago and just re-applyed the s100 like 3 weeks ago.



Now when i washed the car last i did the sheeting action method. I noticed that the area where the waterspots were are not sheeting anymore. now my question is did the waterspots only go thru the wax and the zaino?? Do i have to clay and polish the whole car again??? Or can i just apply some s100 and replace the wax that the water spots ate thru??



The waterspots are not visible when the car is clean. u can just notice them when the car doesnt sheet off the water.
 
I don't know how bad the pollution is down in Chicago, but if the rain water that fell on your car was polluted it could easily cause damage or strip protection.



The problem was not that it was allowed to touch the paint or sit on it, the problem was the dirty water was allowed to dry out on the paint and bake in the sun. This is really bad for the finish because polluted or acid rain will super-concentrate as the water evaporates, and the heat just makes this chemical soup even harsher.



If the water spots are totally invisible and only show themselves when you get the car wet, I would just try reapplying the S100 and see if that fixes it. If you want you could probably Dawn wash it and reapply some Zaino instead.
 
i did reapply some s100 and the car looks awsome. I hope this solves my problem cuz i dont feel like dawn washing it and then polishing out the water spots if thats the case. I do think the s100 will work though thanks for ur help
 
It'll do it in one day. I had just waxed my hood with collinite 476s, and the next day DEW drops left on the hood caused massive watermark etching. :wall
 
every LSP is susceptible to acid rain. If acid rain will etch clear it will eventually eat thru wax and sealants as well.

they should make the clear coat basic so that it nuetralizes the acid rain or something. It sucks how it can be etched so damn easily.
