how far do you drag mitt across ?

before rinsing in second bucket when washing?? i'm sure its almost impossiable to tell how dirty it is or when to lift mitt and rinse

I will usually rinse the mitt about every panel or half panel depending on how dirty the car is. If it is really dirty I will just drag the mitt across the panel and then rinse it and wash the panel again.

For example on the hood I use three mitts or three rinsings. For the doors I use 1 and sometimes two mitts to get the whole door. I also have a dedicated mitt for the very bottom of the door where lots of dirt accumulates.

When I'm using a "regular" wash technique, as opposed to one of my extreme methods, I'll seldom do even half a door without cleaning/changing the mitt. Better safe than sorry; a little more time spent washing beats a *lot* of time spent polishing and rewaxing (let alone the wear and tear on the clear).

I do about a quarter of the panel than flip the mitt to the clean side and do another quarter. Rinse the mitt and repeat on the other half of the panel. I prefer thumbless mitts for this. It takes me about 2- 2 1/2 hrs to wash the car.

Accumulator have you ever tried QEW? I am going to pick some up one of these days and try it out. Lots of members seem to have really good results with it.

Nah, the concept behind it is just antithetical to my way of washing. Not a shot at those who use/like it, but it's not for me.

Note that these days I do 99% of my washes with some variation of my extreme foamgun technique. About as far from QEW as you can get.

Might be just the thing for *you* though, especially if water use/supply/etc. is an issue.

stevet, it takes you 2 - 2 1/2 hours :shocked

Is that to clean a truck? ;)

It depends on how dirty the paint is.

If the bottom half has gone through a rain i will wash each section 2 times.

The first time i try to just tickle the paint rinsing with every "line" of the wash pad per panel.

Then i empty out my buckets and wash normally, still rinsing or flipping over the pad every line.

I have to go down dirt roads on construction sites, so i get real dirty sometimes.

qew = Protectall's Quick and Easy Wash.

It's a soap that requires no rinsing so a lot of people use it to wash their cars in the winter with no hose. A lot of mobile detailers use it all the time for customer cars too.

QEW is an everyday product for me!!! Saves about 20 min. a vehicle if it isnt full of dirt. I dont get any marring from it, but I still have a tank and pressure washer for muddy and built up dirt.

I love QEW!!!!!!!!!
