How Effective Is Z-PC

I just bought a UDM and will be attempting my first paint correction in a few weeks. I really wanted a Flex, but I couldn't pass up the deal on the UDM ($99 with free shipping, no taxes, four free pads).



My vehicle (2007 RAV4 in Flint Mica) currently has NO major defects, holograms, buffer trails, ect. From what I can tell under halogen light, I only have light marring/scratches. I don't even see any swirl marks, just light directional marring.



I have a pile of care care products as-is, and I really don't want to start adding dozens of different pads and polishes to my collection. I enjoy keeping my cars looking good, but they are both daily drivers and I do not expect them to be 100% defect free garage queens. I am simply looking to remove light marring once a year from two vehicles.



That being said...

Will Z-PC and the pads that come with the machine be enough to remove this light marring?

Yes, if the marring is a slight as you say, the orange pads should do fine with the z-pc to correct them. In fact, if you have z-aio, you may want to experiment to see if that will remove the light marring, without the need for the z-pc, or using the z-pc in only the worst spots.



That's a heck of a deal on the UDM and orange pads!
 
You will need a white pad to finish out with. It is possible that you will get some micro marring with the orange pad alone.



Using ZPC-apply 4 small pea sized dots to the pad. A spritz of Z6 on the pad as well if you have any.



Spread the polish out in a 2x2' taped off area with the machine off.



Turn the machine on to speed 4 and work the ZPC in a bit.



Speed 6 and make slow passes 1" per second with medium pressure.



Work ZPC till its about gone or starts leaving a trail of dust.



Wipe down the area with a MF and check your progress with a brinkman or halogen light.

Z-PC leaves a pretty good finish with an orange pad on harder paints, a white polishing pad works best on softer paints.

Autogeek had it on sale for $99 for a little bit but you can still get a refurbished one here at autopia for $99.

It was listed on the website for $99 a couple weeks ago. When I went to order it yesterday, I saw that the price had gone up $30. So I called their 800# and the guy said "Oh no, you're never out of luck. I'll honor the $99 price."



So, if anyone wants this deal, I would recommend calling instead of ordering online.

As I mentioned, I was able to get the $99 deal on a new one by calling their 800#.

A few questions - so it comes with the 4 orange light cut pads and a 6.5" white pad too?

if i read that correctly on their website, what is the difference between the white and orange? the orange has more cut while the white doesnt have any?



just curious - why would they throw in 4 orange pads anyway? why not mix them up a bit with other pads? is it easy to go through orange pads or what?



from least aggressive to most aggressive, is this the correct order for pads - blue/black, white, orange?



also read on their site about the UDM and they say it can burn paint. is this really possible? im getting somewhat intimidated about that statement
