How does WG compare to Z2Pro?

Thanks. I really don't want to use Dawn it seems to harsh for the paint on my new car.

As far as WG, my car currently has one coat of WG and topped with 2 coats of PSignature Series. It looks great but lacks that shiny, reflective look. I would say that is has much more depth than it does shine. I like the look, but now want to try Z2 Pro to see which one I like better.

How would this be for a Zaino Prep.....3M SMR, ISO wipe down, then the Z2. Is Z1 or ZFX totally necessary?

thanks,

Brett

which looks best also depends on the vehicle shape- curvey shaped cars tend to look better with softer, glowing waxes or sealants-cars with hard edges (Cadilac CTS) would look better with a sharper more reflective sealant like Zaino-its not just a metter of one product being better than another

That prep would work (if it takes care of your swirls, etc.). Z1 or ZFX is necessary for the first coat.

Is the Z8 just intended to be a booster for the Z2 in a spray form, much like Sonus Acrylic Glanz/NXT Booster Wax?

I understand you not wanting to use Dawn for a single wash when there are a multitude of prep specific products available, but to state that Dawn is too harsh is a detailing myth.

Harsh is terms of what?

pH- false. vehicle is exposed to more extreme pH's (ie. acid rain and acid dew :shocked )

Surfactants - all detergents use basically the same ones including car shampoos.

Will dull finish and or erode finish and seals- only if the "virgin" appearance is such and the pre-wash shine is all due to glazes, sealant or wax previously on finish and seals again are exposed to harsher environments continually.

This is not meant to be augumentative but a clarification of Dawn mythical demonization as an one-time denuding Zaino prep (car wash). :wavey

I really think it's best if we all just wait until the product is released before trying to compare to other products and/or pass judgement. Just for the sake of not having anymore of the previous problems :)

if i try to use z2pro, am i gonna have crack out my blue bottle of zfx , dab dab dab and then shake shake shake ?? or have the folks at zaino finally come out with a sans mixture needed

Yes!!! one layer of Z1 and apply Z2-PRO. Similiar to one layer of glaze and top with a carnauba.

Instant cure without mixing?

Not yet. Probably when a non-mixing epoxy or concrete that doesn't require mixing with water comes out. Some things just can not be pre-mixed.

Agreed. Personally, I prefer the look of WG on dark colors but I could go either way on light colors and metallics. Z2 Pro will probably outlast WG though.

I know you tried the Pro on a silver car, but have you tried it on a dark color personally yet?

I don't know if Dawn is too harsh or not. I guess that was just a concern of mine. I have read from many posters that they would never use Dawn on their cars, but rather a shampoo dedicated to cars. Thanks for informing me of the myths of Dawn blkz28

As it has been stated OVER AND OVER, Zaino only recommends Dawn, as a one time use, for those people who don't understand how to get their finish oil/wax/grease free. Autopians shouldn't worry about Dawn...the general public doesn't necessarily know a better way.

People who make a huge issue of it, one way or the other, need to get over it and move on. IT'S YOUR CAR...CARE FOR IT HOW YOU LIKE!

I tried it on my trunk lid and it looked very similar to how my car looked with Shokar, real wet, shiny and bright. I haven't tried the Z5 I have though on black, I understand it is better on dark paint.

Every time I've tried a sealant other than WG or EX, I almost immediately top it with a carnauba. I just prefer the extra depth and I do realize carnaubas alter the look of the paint somewhat but that is the look I prefer. I get just as many compliments on my car whether I use a sealant or a carnauba so I'm not saying it looks bad, it just isn't the look I prefer. As much as I like WG and EX, I end up going back to CMW and Souveran on my own car.

I've noticed that as well. I was suprised how much I liked EX-P (which has a similar clear wet look to Z2 Pro) on a black Escalade with its sharper lines, while I didn't like it nearly as much as regular EX on my 626 which has a very curvy shape.

I thought I was the only one who thought this. ;)

Durability wise the Zaino wins hands down.

I would compare the look of Z-2 Pro to Poorboy's EX-P. Very bright, clear and super reflective. I would compare the look of Wolfgang to Poorboy's EX with Carnauba. Wet and glossy with some color altering/deepening affect.

I've noticed this as well!! When I detail '99 and up Mustang's and Cobra's using Poorboy's products I will 9 times out of 10 use EX-P instead of EX. It just seems to "pop" more with the hard lines of those cars.
