How does this theory sound?

You guys in the states have a PC , we in Europe don't.

Sure we can order in the states , but we have this 220Volt problem : a PC + transformer = too many $$$



I've been searching The Net and I came up with a random orbital buffer from Bosch : two models : 5" & 6" hook & loop plates

both machines (Bosch) about 750Watt strong ( a PC is about 450Watt strong),both variable RPM

Pricing about 120USDollar for the Bosch.



So,

here's my theory : the things that touch your paint are the pad and the product , the machine delivers the power , thus with the same pad and product but diffrent machines you should have the same results,

or

wrong???



a diffrence could be the handling , weight , noice?



What are your opinions?

Christian- I personally dont own a PC, I have used them and the main differences btwn the PC and my WEN orbital polisher is the noise and ease of use. The PC pads, and the overall design of the machine makes it much easier to buff in small crevices, nad get under objects like mirrors, lights, grilles, etc... Its not worth the extra $ to me. Ill keep my cheap one. Good Luck!
 
you should be fine with that machine. It sounds more "heavy-duty" than our PC so it may weigh a bit more and be a bit noisier but that should not present any problems.



Can you examine the machine before buying it?

Which Bosch sander are you planning on getting?



I too did not go with the PC. I instead got the DeWalt DW443 which also has a larger motor than the PC. It is shaped like the PC though. All the Bosch buffers I'm looking at are palm shaped buffers. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to use a palm buffer to polish a car.
 
We have talked about it today and yesterday with Christiaan. The one he's talking about is the Bosch Random Orbit Sander-polisher PEX420AE, 150mm disc(=6") .



Since I don't have access to PC here, I may also consider to buy it. I've found another one from FESTO which is about $400 :(



My concern is if the Bosch is safe to use it on the paint too, like the PC. (ie without overheating or burning the paint)

If it is a random orbital sander, then it is just like the PC and is safe on paint when used correctly.
