well i just ordered a Porter Cable 7424, this is the actual kit i bought. i got it from detailersdomain.com as a group buy.

Porter Cable 7424 Variable Speed Polisher

Backing plate for PC

32 oz. Menzerna Intensive Polish PO91E

32 oz. Menzerna Nano Polish PO 106 FA

32 oz. Menzerna Finishing Glaze PO 115C

Einszett Glanz (for your last step)

CCS Orange 5.5 Inch Light Cutting Foam Pad

CCS White 5.5 Inch Polishing Foam Pad

CCS Blue 5.5 Inch Finessing Foam Pad

CCS Red 5.5 Inch UltraSoft Wax/Sealant Foam Pad

2 Uber MF Towels (Blue 16x24)

this will be my first time using the porter cable 7424 (im doing it on my own car dont worry haha) and i just wondering if this is a good plan, if its right, if its to little or if its to much.

Wash Car

Clay Bar Car

Re-Wash Car

Tape off whatever needs to be taped off

Use Intensive Polish with CCS Orange Pad

Use Nano Polish with CCS White Pad

Use Finishing Glaze with CCS Blue Pad

Use Einszett Glanz with CCS Black Pad (it came with a black pad instead of a red one)

it may be a stupid question, but my main question is am i using the right pads with the right products?

Pretty sure LC Blue is softer than LC Black so maybe swap out the order of that.

Orange>White>Black>Blue

Outside of that your process looks solid. I think you'll be impressed with the Mez products. Keep some QD around for pad prep and maintenance as well as something to spur the pads while your working (old toothbrush actually does well in a pinch). Clean pads are always good and the finishing polishes seem to do better with a damp pad so they don't soak up the product too much.

I don't think you'll even need the Einszett Glaze but if it came with a black then using a blue won't be much different. Neither black or blue have any abrasiveness...

Just remember that each step should be less abrasive than the previous step. You're always removing the marks left behind from the step before.

If you notice you are making the finish look worse then you probably used a product in the wrong order.

Lastly you might not even need the IP. It depends on how much correction is needed on your vehicle. I would start with the 106FA on white and see how it comes out. If it looks like it needs something stronger (or would take multiple passes with 106FA) THEN try the Orange+IP. You could even try White+IP if you wanted to be extra careful but I don't think Orange+IP is overly abrasvive. Remember always try to do the least abrasive thing that attains the desired result. Most guys around here will spend a decent amount of time figuring out what product/pad combo they are going to use for the entire car. Pick a good area to do some testing and try various product/pad combos until you figure it out.

firstly, thank you for that detailed response i really do appreciate it. i also posted this same thread on autogeek.net since i wasnt getting any feedback in this one. they said the same exact thing over there, skip the IP/orange pad, and just start with the 106FA and a white pad and see how it works from there. if i have to move up to the IP/orang pad, do so afterwords. and they also said to skip the glaze this time around too.

it came down to me changing my plan to this:

wash car

clay bar car

re-wash car

tape off what needs to be taped off

106FA with White Pad

(move up to IP/orange pad if neccesary)

then go over it again with the 106FA with a black pad

then wax with the blue pad

how does that sound to you?

alright its set then haha. im sticking to it. ill make sure to take lots of before and after pictures and ill post them up after i go at it tomorrow. thanks for the help.
