How does the Optimum Compoound, Polish and Hyper Compound

Also interested. Maybe some of the vets can update or complete that chart. Seems like a very useful resource if all the data was there.

my input since I own all three... plus IP, SSRI 1, 2, 2.5 and 3.

OP is probably #4. Or #3.5

OC is probably #5 Same as IP or a less. Lets call it a #4.5

OHC is probably #6 or #6.5.

Subjective opinions..

Optimum is kind of interesting like that, since how aggressive they are is really depenadant on the pad you use. Opt compound for example is probably about as aggressive as SSR 2.5 on an orange LC pad, but finishes down much nicer on a white, so it's kind of hard to classify. I'd say it's a 4-5.5.

Opt Polish is the same way, kind of a 3-5, since it'll take out reasonable marring on an orange (or even yellow), but is absolutely finish worthy on a white.

OHC I find is pretty strictly a 6.5-7, it's pretty agreesive. Not as much as SSR3 or PG, but close.

I just used OC and OP. Not sure about OP as I mainly used it to finish polishing. But I compounded one of my suv's, white, yellow pad on hood and orange on the rest. Had some bad swirls and scratches (though you almost couldn't see them being white). I was very impressed, and actually found the products easy to work on a PC contrary to what others say.

OC on a yellow cutting pad let barely any hazing and even finished up almost as good as a final polishing. I would say it's in the 6-7 range.

I'd agree generally with the evaluations here in terms of initial cutting, but I've found that OHC and OC seem to do their cutting up front, then break down relatively quickly and finish out like a lighter polish. Add to that the lack of dusting and they're my go-to polishes.

I'd still like to have some PG for the heavier jobs.

What he said. I think a more completed chart would be very useful to people that are new to the detailing seen. I know it would definetly help me.

Bumping an older thread....So would using OHC with a white LC or green Propel pad bump its cutting ability down a notch or would it remain pretty much the same?

Also, if I wanted to get rid of swirls on a 5 year old dark car, would I go with something in the 6-7 range on that chart (Medium Cut) or go down a notch to a 5 (Light Cut)?
