How does the Meguiars Pro Line stack up?

Ive been interested in their pro line recently. How is it in terms of removing swirls/depth/wetness?



Just wondering how they stack up against lets say a Poorboys/Clearkote combo, or something else?



Their Pro line seems reasonably cheap, which is very enticing..

I agree, i used the swirl free polish(82) and its real easy to work with, also use their microfiber towels, buffing pads, tire shine etc.



I recently tried S100 over NXT(applied with a polishing pad), the results were real good, it just depends on what type of look you are going for.

Meguiars #80 series polishes are excellent. There is a cut for every situation. Great pads too. Some of their Detailer line is really good too, like Hyper Dressing.



#26 is a great wax, #20 likewise is an excellent sealant with light cleaning ability and although I haven't tried it, their #21 Sealant is getting rave reviews from a lot of people.

I second Scott wax on the megs #80 series line. The Speed Glaze (80) is awesome I used it recently on this Lexus if it gives you any indication of how well it works.



The DACP , #83, works great but takes learning. NEVER use it if warm surface. It tends to get gummy.



Havent used #82 but I know people love it as well and claim it is easy to work with.



This car was topped wih M21 the new synthetic sealant. Have done several cars with it and am plenty happy.



Overall Meg's offer very good perfromance at a very reasonable price.

what products do you suggest I try from them if I already have Optimum Polish, RMG, EX, and CMW? Might as well pick up some products before they boost their prices.

Well on this car I used #80 and made about 2 passes with the PC. I used the 6" yellow pads. I love the results I get with 80 especially on black. I havent tried the optimum yet, want to , or the Clearkotes. Here are some of my other posts on meg products.

I am hoping to try the CG Laser Buff or their new Spider Web remover, just to say I tried it,but, that being said. Been quite happy with Megs 80 series.

I'll agree with the above posters. The 80's series polishes are great. #83 and #80 are my personal faves. I've also gotten good results from #9 (also used it to remove some light scratches from my iPod). I'm finally switching from NXT (which I've used since it's introduction) to M21. I was able to get a sample of it from Mike Phillips and this stuff is awesome. It's slicker than NXT and has a slightly "warmer" appearance. It actually reminds me of the NXT topped with Souveran combo I've used in the past.

So what exactly are the #80,#83? Polishes or waxes?

#80 and #83 are abrasive paint cleaners with polishing oils and fillers. You need to apply a wax or sealant afterwards to protect the paint.

I'll be the contrarian this time; while I like #80 for some jobs and I've used #9 on-and-off since forever (through maybe three different versions), I generally find the Meg's (abrasive) polishes/compounds to be less user-friendly than I like. I dunno what to recommend since my faves from 3M (PI-III RC 05933 and PI-III MG 05937) are discontinued and getting a bit hard to find, but I'm just not a fan of stuff like #83. I refuse to struggle with learning a product, but that's just me...



One thing to watch is the concealing ability of the "trade secret oils". I'm *not* gonna use the word "fillers" but I will say that what you see isn't always what's there (say, after an IPA wipe). But then that's one reason why I sometimes reach for the #80...

Is the M21 Meguiars? I can't seem to find it on thier site... I've been using #26, #7 and #16 with great results on dark colors.

I agree with you in part Accumulator. I always use a MF and some Prepsol to see exactly what I have accomplished. It clears the way for the follow up Zaino too!
