How does Scottwax do it?

OUCH

New member
I just detailed my car today without using my PC cause I had to do it at the Carwash place and lemme tell you, the left part of my body is SORE, the right is too but not as bad as the left. And all I did was Wash, Dry, QD (I had to go back home so I had to QD the car again), Claybar, AIO (2x on the hood and trunk and rear bumper) SG, finally Wet N Shine (I thought), buffing. Got home and found out from some members that QDing my car could've removed SG, so I went back outside, Dusted, QDed the whole car again and then SG again. By this time the bugs were bugging me so I gave up and decided to just remove the residue tomorrow unfortunately it'll be covered with a layer of dust, a thick one too..

So yah Scottwax how do you do it.. :bow

"You gotta prahlem Lucy?"

Hey, a little excercise never hurts........

You cant rely exclusively on your PC anyway !

Yeah Scottwax definitely rules. The results he gets without using a rotary or pc is insane.

As far as the physical aspect of how he does it........that's easy.....he's been doing it forever therefore his body is used to it. He's in detailing shape.

I like to lift weights & in-line skate.....I consider myself in good shape.....But if I tried to do a 3 step process on a car by hand my arms would feel like they were going to fall off also. :)

Yeah, when I do my wash, clay, clean, polish. wax routine, my arm feels like it is going to fall off. And my results are nowhere near Scottwax's! All hail the great Scottwax :bow :bow :bow

Don't forget that Scottwax also has a lot of repeat customers who care about their cars, respect his efforts and they keep them clean, which makes it a lot easier for him. I too am amazed by his work!

If there was a Detailing Hall of Fame, Scottwax would be a shoo in!

Okay....[insert embarrassed smilie here]

I've just been doing this for a very long time (more than 9 years full time now). Occasionally, my elbow is a bit tender when I have a lot of cars to wax in a week. In addition, like Gonzo pointed out, I have a lot of regular customers who just don't let their cars get bad. I also try a lot of different products to see which ones give me the best results with the least effort.

I've lifted weights on an off for around 20 years, but since I started detailing full time, I really don't need to work my upper body. Inline skating takes care of my lower body.

Hey scott, have you ever detailed a car while roller bladding

:)

That's a thought! It'd be perfect for cars that are slightly too tall to reach the middle of the roof, but still low enough it would look silly to use a ladder.

Hey Scottwax wait until you have been doing this for 30 years. This business really takes a toll on your back. I wear 4 back braces every day. I sit in a jacuzzi everyday for about an hour. I still am at work by 5am everyday and I still love every minute of it.

Well, I've been doing this for 9 years full time so you still have a few years on me! Inline skating really strengthens your lower back though.

I have this picture in my head of scott rolling down hill with a MF in hand buffing all the cars on one side while he passes them at light speed.

It definatly gets to you.

I work every day 7 days a week from 8:30-5 at least and I am tired but not beat up. Once you get a system down you use it on any car and you get used to it.

Detailing can be seen as something that is not a job but something that is fun.
