How Do you Wash MF??

Cool. His name is Ian and he is in San Diego - - I'm not completely senile ;)

For those wishing to see a lot more on this topic, search on this string:

Micro*restore

and you'll pull up endless discussion on the various theories relating to the cleaning of MF and pads.

That's just good stuff right there, Tom, thanks for finding it.

I have noticed that since I've been using vinegar, none of my MF's start turning water repellent.

I have been making one mistake though.. I've been adding vinegar to both the liquid bleach dispenser and the fabric softener dispenser. It looks like it's a mistake to add it to the bleach dispenser, as this is added to the water during the wash cycle. It's probably not a good idea to mix acidic vinegar with the basic laundry detergent.

Yeah, he suggests that "neutralizes" the effect of the detergent. I think the vinegar should be added prior to the final rinse.

Using vinegar is an age-old trick for softening and odor removal.

My MF towels also show increased water repellancy over time. The vinegar rinse seems to help that situation.

I bought a gallon of the Micro-Restore this past fall. It's not my first purchase of it - - this is a good product. I probably use it every 4th or 5th wash. It does a great job cleaning up funky pads, too.

Vinegar is great and I also use Woolite on all our towels.

If I paid $4.00 per towel, I guess I would be more careful. ;)

I use vinegar now and then when I feel the towels not working as well. I do not hang dry as I do not want any particles coming into contact with the towels--dust and so forth. I am in an open climate area..no basement or closed laundry room. I dry them all the way and fold and put in containers right out of the dryer.

Just put that on my acquisition list, thanks!

Bring 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup vinegar to a rolling boil in your microwave and it makes it SO easy to to clean the microwave. Simple, works, try it.
