How do you store your wash mediums (grout sponge/sheepskin mitt/etc)?

I would be worried about dust and dirt geting embedded in the fibers of the wash mitts, that is the reason I use zip-lock bags. Aren't you guys worried about micro-marring the finish of your car when you wash it/ONR it?

you could always squeeze/agitate and soak it in a clean bucket of water before use and hose it off as well...

mine gets washed after each wash then laid out in my house for a day or two to make sure its totally dried, then put away in a rubbermaid bin with a lid on it.

I have those shoebox bins (medium sized ish, plastic bins) and have 4 of them for different things. 1 is for spare wash media, interior care products, exterior products, MF Towels.

I have lately started using my bucket with lid more and more though, wash media under grit guard and putting my spray bottles and such on top of the grit guard then closing the lid.

I've made an effort to get more organized this year...

edit:

oh and I do the same thing as dmw2692004, after I wash it, I put mine in a window in our sunroom to air dry in the "sun". I do the same with my pads...

I am reading that most of you either hang dry or put your washing mitts or whatever you use on a rack to dry. I would be worried about dust and dirt geting embedded in the fibers of the wash mitts, that is the reason I use zip-lock bags. I doubt that anybody here is more concerned with wash-induced marring than I am, and I have zero worries about that.

[Repeat "sheesh, how dirty is the shop in question?!?" thoughts]

Even in a less-than-pristene shop (like my previous one) I don't see how dirt is gonna end up "embedded" in wash media even if said dirt is floating around the shop. As BigAl3 said, just do some kind of quickie clean-up if you're concerned.

By the time I finish doing an hours-long wash, the last thing I want to do is [mess] around with my wash media. I used to hang my BHBs up (bristles-down) to drip dry but I don't even bother doing that any more.

Maybe my foamgun-centric wash regimen leaves my wash media a lot cleaner than they would be otherwise  Since even my *rinse buckets* stay pretty clean, that could well be the case.
