How do YOU handle scratches?

I am in need of some good scratch advice. I have a new car with some light scratches.

I believe they were on the car when I picked it up, but it is possible that I picked a few up here and there.

These are light scratches, and very short, like less than 1/2" long.

You cannot feel them with your fingertip, but CAN barely feel them with your nail.



I just want to get it right before I pick a procedure like you all have.

I have eleven bottles of this Meguiar's Body Scrub (paint cleaner) sitting around, and tried to use it, but that didn't touch it.



Any Ideas?

On a side note, I had a bird dropping today, and hit it with QD, ASAP.

It left behind what appeared to be a stain in the clear coat, but Body Scrub took it right out, so it has SOME purpose!

*Maybe not 11 bottles worth though...*

If you're doing this work by hand, I'd probably try Meguiar's ScratchX first. It's available locally, and has been effective for me. Since you can barely feel the scratches with your nail, there's a good chance that you can only diminish the scratches, and not completely fix them. But, a little improvement is better than none.



If you have access to a machine (either rotary or orbital), then there are a host of different products available that probably can take care of your issue. The products used would depend on which machine you might have, so if you do have one, I can clarify further.

ps: If you do pick up a new black car at night, make sure it's under fluorescent light -- it shows all!
 
Paint Cleaner wont cut it.. If you are short on the correct tools of the trade, pick up a tube of Megs Scratch X and follow the instructions.. If you want to really get serious about car care, the learn button up top is an excellent beginning. The PC and some good pads is essential for maintaining the vehicle's paint. :welcome
 
As others have said first call of action is Scratch X by hand.



After that its the PC and spot pads.
 
Sorry for the "no reply" guys, I have been sick for like 12 days straight now. I'll probably get on this tonight when I get home from work.
