How do you guys purchase clay?

At $10-12 per bar, clay is by far the biggest material expense in detailing (per session).



Any tips in reducing this costs?

1. Cut your bar into smaller pieces.

2. You shouldn't need to clay anymore than maybe every 6 months.

Cut you clay bar into 4-6 small cubes. This way if you drop one, you just throw it out and take another one.

I agree also. Although having a business, I go through about two to six bars every week depending on the volume of cars I have to do.

Where's the best place to buy clay in bulk?

Honestly, you can buy Clay Magic for $9.99 at AutoZone, and not have to pay any shipping. The bar is big enough to cut into (at least) thirds, so that's kind of like $3.33/per bar. On top of that, you get a free bottle of qd with each Clay Magic.



I'm not sure you can beat that price by purchasing bulk.

I've tried it before and it works pretty good by itself.:up

The Quick Detail is very good IMO. It leaves a brilliant shine, wipes on and off very very easy with MF towel.

Try a local detailing truck. Every city has one around. Just look into the pages. Sometimes the truck will come to you. Or better yet, have a local detailer tell you what time of the day his supply truck comes around and buy it through the company at company discounts!

At one time, wasn't there an option to purchase JUST the claybars from Mother's? I love Mother's clay (and the price is great) but don't think I can collect any more miniature bottles of Cleaner Wax.
