How Do YOU get trunks clean?

Hey guys, just wondering how some of you guys get the trunks of cars clean. It seems like there's ALWAYS that EXTREMELY HARD to vaccuum mat in the trunk that can't JUST be vaccuumed out, what do you guys do?

Are you talking about the carpet that is hard, but has a sticky nap to it? The kind where grass refuses to come out?

Take a brush attachment to the end of your vacuum hose, and start in one corner. Rub the brush in small circles and it'll release the grass and pick it up.

If you can remove the trunk carpet, DO IT!!! Working on it outside of the vehicle is alot easier than it still being in the trunk. Sometimes you come across pine needles that seem to not come off. They will, if you do this. Use an old dull razor blade and scrap across the carpet. Make sure to grasp it firmly, or better yet put it in a blade holder. Keep the blade perpendicular to the carpet and scrap away! Works every time.

Oh...if you run across dog hair, try one of those brass white wall brushes...you will be pleasantly suprised!!!

Definatly easier if you can remove the carpet from the car & work on it on the ground or a work bench.

I think the car companies are a tad masochistic when it comes to picking the material for the trunk mat and carpeting!

A lot of people tell me "don't worry about doing the trunk"... but I can't in good conscience not take the stuff out, vacuum the mat and replace the items.

I thoroughly vaccum the trunks, and have a brush that I "agitiate" the mat with. For really stubborn imbedded things, I use a pair of forceps to grab them with and extract the item with.

I always try to get the boxes that the copier paper come in at the firehouse. Anyhting that is loose in the trunk goes into that box and then into the trunk.

Maybe you better follow your clients' wishes when they tell you not to bother with the trunk. You might find a dead body in there if you're not careful!!! ;) :D

But then again, you guys probably know how to get bloodstains out of carpets too!!!

Most times i will give a quick vacuum, then a light shampoo and scrub and suck out with shop vac.

The water helps to break the bond more then dry vacuum alone. Also works for dog hair. To get the final 10% is the real pain. Then the best way i have found is the round hose end.
