Regarding the CRS, I still have to deal with the water. I sometimes do a *LOT* of deionized-water rinsing, but I never seem to get all the regular water displaced...eh, guess my vehicles simply retain a lot of water and whether deionized or not, it usually makes for a mess of some kind unless I dry it all up thoroughly before driving it. Maybe not waterspots (my softened water isn`t all that bad in that regard anyhow), but some kind of mess from the water running all over the vehicle. Even a little dust can look bad when water`s run through it.

EDIT: But if I`m just doing a rinse-only pseudowash, I do finish up with the CRS and just blow it dry as best I can. Doesn`t come out perfect, but during bad weather it`s good enough for me; "Life is not a car show" and all that.

Leaf blower followed by a drying aid, usually OCW..

The OCW is working so well on my wife`s A8 that I`ve just kept using it as that car`s usual Drying Aid. I had originally planned to just use it while the most recent paintwork was curing, but it`s *so* quick and easy, and it does look good.

While I do have a MasterBlaster and use it most of the time even when I do use it I usually come back with a touch up towel later. (Platinum Pluffle)

I have a large amount of drying towels and cycle through them depending on what I am doing or my mood.

  • RagCo Platinum Pluffle
  • Gyeon Silk Dryer
  • Griots Garage PFM
  • Mothers Ultra Soft Drying Towel
  • Old CarProUS - Standard Waffle Weave
  • Old AutoGeek - Standard Blue Waffle Weave w/ Silk Edges

Started with the waffles. Now using Gyeon Silk Dryer and [mostly] Griot`s PFM.

Looking to move into blown air soon

Mind if I ask which model? I`ve been looking at a DeWalt myself.
I use this Kobalt jobsite blower. It`s very similar to the new flex that is coming out, but much more affordable

Leaf blower then one my many drying towels (various waffle weave, pluffle, PFM, Big Blue, Cobra) with a waterless wash drying aid or D156 or OCW. I used to use ryobi 18 volt cordless blower but its to weak for whole car ok for wheels and grill, now I use Worx Turbine 12 Amp Corded Leaf Blower WG520 this thing is a beast my forearms are sore after it push back so hard, also it has variable speed so you can adjust as needed for delicate areas.

i tried using my toro leaf blower and my Echo leaf blower. Echo did a very good job. The toro one seems to have thrown some kind of white spots that i have had to polish to take out. so i have nightmares of air sand blasting the pant so i went back to different waffle weave towers, plus towels etc.. aqua wax while i dry and sometimes Megs express wax.

Cheers

Nick

titsataki- Why not just keep using the Echo?

FWIW, I`ve been using a leafblower (with AirWand) for years with zero issues. Maybe the Toro lacks a decent intake filter or something...

the Echo was a beast to maneuver.
also i did use it for leafe blowing in my previous house but having sold that house and not really blowing 3 acres of leaves I have sold it. :)
yes I am sure you are correct the Toro has something in the fan or missing something but i did it once and saw all these white specs that would not come out whiteout machine buffing so I became gun shy :)
when temps go up i may try to test it and see what i can deduce.

A leaf blower is only going to blow out what is in the air around the car, maybe some pollen or dust. After it blows all the water off the car there should be nothing left except a little dust or pollen. Maybe I’m missing something here. I’ve used both a battery and a gas powered leaf blower and never saw anything left behind. If you are blow drying your car in a sand storm you have more problems than just sand blasting your paint. Color me confused.

titsataki- Ah, OK, and I understand your now being gunshy about using the Toro any more.

rlmccarty2000- Guess his Toro somehow ingested some contamination that it subequently spewed out. That might be tricky to clear out, sometimes once something gets full of [crap] it`s kinda forever.

This reinforces my opinion that blowers used on the vehicles shouldn`t be used for anything else (I`m assuming the area where the Detailing is done is nice and clean).

Yes,never use a blower that is going to be used on a car for anything else. I’m too paranoid to “cheat” on this practice.

ok that I buy.. not to use the car blower for anything other than car drying..

right now the blower for drying is a nono with the one i have
later spring/summer i may get something car dedicated.

Also i did use the air wand and i have had no issues just is a bit of a pain to pull the air hose out and back in not that is cold.

I see the point but in reality what comes out of even a dirty leaf blower has nothing on the crap that gets thrown on a car while driving. That said my corded leaf blower sees 10x the action on cars vs actual leaves.

Master Blaster Revolution. Love the 30’ hose. Could call it done but usually go over it with Feynlab QD and gold plush jrs
