How do you detail tight spots?

I have a 2003 Passat with cloth (velour) interior. I'm having problems getting the lint and dust out of the tight area between the rear window and the deck. I have a Rainbow vacuum and have tried the attachments (short/wide and long/slender) and can't quite reach or can't get the necessary suction to get up the lint and dust. I have a sticky roller that works great but can't fit the tight spot. Do I do a manual application of duct tape?



What do you guys (and gals) use in this sort of situation?

I actually spray some water on my hands just to moisten them a little. I then use my fingers to drag the offending dust, dirt and lint towards an area that can be cleaned using a vacuum or lint brush.



Warning, this should only be done on areas of your car, if detailing someone elses car I would be weary of areas under the seat.
 
I was working in similar areas last night (ok, actually, til 3:00 this morning :shocked ) and finally had a chance to use my Two-Way Mini Detail Brush, bought recently from the Autopia store. Gadzooks, Batman! That thing is cool. The black end is a stiff nylon (I think) brush, and the beige-colored end is a very soft (I'm guessing) natural bristle brush. Could not believe how well it did in those tiny crevices, vents, etc. At $2.49 each, it's a steal. Check it out! :up
 
I second the use of a good detailing brush like the one in the autopian store. Vacuuming gets it clean then you go over it with a brush and the vacuum; it makes it look new.



My sucky advice. :)
 
Question about this detail brush. I could see that it would work great on vents, and other small areas made of plastic or vinyl but what about cloth? Are the bristles on this brush strong enough to move lint on cloth?



I plan on ordering one of these through Autopia (Along with a few other goodies) either way but I'm curious if it will work on cloth too.:nixweiss
 
The nylon bristles are stiff enough that I think they would move lint. But this brush is so small (1/2- to 3/4" diameter) that I think you'd want something larger for carpets, fabric seats, etc. But for it's intended purposes, I think it's great!
