How do you detail pewter?

My wedding picture frame from Seagull Pewter has a couple of scratches from moving across country. Can it be buffed out? compounded?

I'll take a stab at this depends on if you have a polished or matted type finish....Hagerty is one of the pewter cleaner an polish that my MIL uses and she has allot of it.
