How do you apply wax?

I love applying a nice carnauba wax by hand. I just finished doing this with some Trade Secret a couple of hours ago.

Very "Zen"!

I always enjoy applying Paste Glaz by hand...it goes on so easy that it takes little or no extra time over the PC.

Accumulator, Thanks for answering the questions. They seemed like reasonable questions. Especially because I'm new to the PC and most of these products. You always seem to pull though :xyxthumbs

I'll have to try #16 with PC. Any tips?

Let me know if this makes any sense?

When applying wax by hand I use a straight back and forth motion and wipe the same way to remove.

When applying wax with PC, The wax gets applied in all directions? giving you better coverage and filling abilities? Then I wipe straight motions to remove.

Don't use too much product. First get the pad thoroughly primed with #16 (either apply with a putty knife/spatula or scrunch up the pad and get it in the can), then try to squeeze out as much as you can. Most people use *way* too much product and this can lead to difficult removal.

Use speed 4 or so. Try to spread the wax over as large an area as possible. Try to apply it as thinly as possible. I just don't know how to adequately stress the importance of not using too much!

I'd do maybe two-three panels then go back and remove it from the first one; I stay about two panels ahead of what I'm wiping off, that gives it some time to set up but not long enough to get too hard to remove. But if (big "if") you put it on thinly enough you can let it set up a *long* time, no removal problems and even better durability. But I'd save the "long setup" for when you've done this a few times and have the hang of the PC/#16 combo.

As long as the surface and the applicator are perfectly contamination-free, it doesn't matter what direction you do use. I myself find the elliptical/circular preferable. Yeah, I know some people frown on that  :D and they can do it however they like.

Yeah, the "all directions" and high-orbits-per-minute give good coverage and help keep the #16 sorta-liquid, which is how it works best. No need for straight motions when removing as long as (broken record :D ) everything is free of contamination. If there *is* contamination, you'll get marring, and in *that* case the straight back-forth motions would result in scratches that are generally considered less noticeable. But if everything's clean you won't get marrng and thus it doesn't matter. In fact, I often use the PC (with a MF bonnet) to remove at least most of the LSP. IMHO the straight-back-forth motions might not always give the best results because hitting it from all angles just seems more thorough to me.

When applying one product after another, is there a certain time i should wait before doing so? i ve read a few threads about waiting 24 hours for certain products. if this is true, do you usually go over it again with a detailing spritz before continuing?(after waiting 24 hrs)
