How do I fix this windshield glass?

Hopefully this picture says it all.....



I enhanced the picture se everyone can see the problem. The OUTSIDE of the windshield has hazing in the areas where the wipers DON'T wipe.



I've tried auto specific glass cleaner. I tried pure vinegar. I tried a clay bar. If you rub real hard, it looks as if it's going away, but wait a few seconds and the hazing returns.



I searched, but the threads talk about hazing on the INSIDE of the windshield.



Any ideas on what product/technique I'm looking for? The windshield doesn't look or feel etched, just foggy. It feels smooth.

What do you have in the way of abrasive cleaners that you could try? Do you have any paint cleaners? Those are generally safe on glass.

If all else fails, you can also polish the glass with something like this.

By paint cleaners, do you mean like Meguiar's #83 (DACP)?



If so, I have Hi-temp Extreme Cut, XMT#4 and XMT#3, Meguiar's #83 and 80. I also have Meguiar's Diamond cut (#85?) but no rotary buffer to use it with.

Yes, give one of those a try with a PC and cutting pad if you have that, or by hand if not.

I've used #000 Steel wool to remove that kinda stuff from windsheilds.

I would try a Magic Eraser next

Wow!!! I gotta tell you, the magic eraser worked wonders!!! Simple, easy to use, didn't take much elbow grease.



If anyone searches and pulls this thread up in the future: Mr. Clean Magic Erasers worked perfectly!!!

Although the Magic Eraser worked wonders, I also tried your recommendation. It also worked perfectly. If someone didn't happen to have magic eraser around, this would work instead. It's a bit more involved, but it worked just as well.

use it wet, do NOT let it touch paint. wow #000 wool?? thats too harsh. i used #0000 and it left scratches and that was used wet. i do suggested #0000 steel wool wet if you can follow it up with something finer to get the scratches out. i personally just use a compund/polish and wax forrain resistance
