How do detailers always know what combination to use?

Everyone uses different products for every detail. I've followed several of Scottwax's jobs and the only thing that stays consistent with him is his polisher, his carpet cleaner, and his wash soap. How can you decide what products to choose? Is it by the cost of the job? Say a cheaper detail uses less/cheaper products? What makes you decide what product to use? Scott uses Fuzion, Poly-seal, Opti-seal, OAIO, and lots of other LSP.

I would say Scott's clients might have a say in what they want too.

I've followed his details as well, AMAZING!

There is some "trial and error". Some products work better on certain finishes/colors. It's whatever works for that particular detail.

Unfortunately, the real answer to this is experience. With knowledge and intelligence experience tells you exactly how to find the right combo.

+1 on that....:xyxthumbs

Yeah thats probably most of the product selection with a lot of the great detailers you see on here. The rest of us.... its just what we see works and what we can afford :D

But obviously the more you work with certain products, the more you know what works with what, and what doesnt, and wil adjust your product lineup accordingly.

Trial and error. When you get good you can really know what products would do the job and what won't.
