how dirty is too dirty for QEW ?

Like others, I'm hoping that QEW will be the miracle cure for washing during the nasty Northeast winters.



The car I'm most concerned about won't be driven when there is a ton of salt, sand , or crud on the roads. However, since it's wonderful fun...I want to drive it as much as I can....so, when it's a nice day and the roads are reasonably clear I will take it out.



This results in some sand getting on the car. Nothing too crazy, but it's inevitable if you drive before March 15 or so!



How will I know if this is too much or too risky to use QEW? Also, any advice on undercarraige washing during the winter?

Good question , I would like to know the same , I just picked up a bottle of QEW haven't used it yet but my truck is filthy , you know the saying a detailers car is never detailed. :nono
 
I've used it before on some pretty dirty vehicles including my truck after driving it for four days through rainy streets. It had lots of caked on dirt and stuff on the sides. I didn't notice any problems.



I put the QEW in a garden sprayer and sprayed the panel down. Made my wash mit wet and gently wiped. I then wipe up as much of the water as I can by using a blot motion. Then as most of it is off I use a dry, clean towel to get the last streaks and buff to a gloss.

If you use a gardensprayer, then you can soak the panel down first and let it start breaking the salt, etc. down. You can get a lot of water on there with a sprayer.
 
To be honest Intel I live in the Northeast and when it snows the street cleaner throw down so much salt and sand and it cakes onto your car if you are unfortunate enough to have to drive in it. Now when you go to wash your car even with a regular hose (QEW aside for now) you have to rinse this stuff off. The hose has enough pressure to rinse off lots of salt and sand before you get the shampoo down on the paint. I would imagine that these granuals of sand and salt when blasted off with a hose are enough to scrath the heck out of your paint. Now when you get your car soap or shampoo part of its putpose is to get inbetween the paint and the dirt and create a barrier so when you wipe it off it doesn't abrade the paint. So when you get to a QEW would it be better to saok the panel with QEW first to get this "barrier" laid down first and then go at it with the garden sprayer. ( An idea which I love by the way as I live iin an apt right now). what do you think?

QEW mixes in with water so you would be spraying the QEW soultion onto the panel with the garden sprayer. I know with my garden sprayer I can adjust the sprayer from wide fan to a stream so you can get some good pressure behind the spray. It would probably get good to get the panel wet and let it sit a minute to let it break down the stuff on your car some.
 
Hi, I heard of QEW and planning to get one but one question.

What's the benefit of using QEW if you can car wash with z7 and rinse with water? maybe I'm not getting the idea of QEW, is it superior to other car wash product?

Because you can wash a vehicle with a gallon of water. You can do it in your garage. This particular feature is important for people who live in cold climates and can't use the hose outside. It is also important for people like me. I sometimes have to wash black cars out in the full sun. If I used the hose on it in mid summer it would be covered with waterspots before I could dry it. Now I can wash it a panel at a time.



I also find using QEW is a lot faster than using a hose. In then end you won't have water dripping out from all the trims, emblems, door handles, mirrors, etc.
