How cold does it actually get???

zesty-man

how do ya like it?
i was just wondering, what is the temperature like over there in the mainland?

over the last week, hawaii has been getting really cold... on monday, the temperature was down all the way to 62 degrees (thats like the coldest its been in about 10 years) in the morning, and i was freezing. i was even contemplating gonig to school with my pajamas on. my hands and ears were so cold they were ready to fall off........ the good news, the temperature seems to be coming back up again. for the most part, we're in the mid 70s and experiencing some pretty big surf, 20-30 ft.

62 degrees is cold!? I shouldn't complain though, Southern California isn't exactly the coldest region of the US. But a few weeks back, it was around 38 at night (also the coldest it's been in quite a while).

We've had a pretty mild winter here too.
I think the worst it's got too was in the low 20's but we're back in the 40's.
Thing is there might be a Noreaster(sp?) coming in on Moday but it's too close to call.

Happy holidays

I've gotten up to walk the dog when it was 0 degrees last year. It is all in what you are used to I guess.

you're freezing when its 62 degrees? id love to be in hawaii!!! its probably 30 degrees outside right now

Pretty mild here (Canada) lately (even got a couple quick washes/qd+ in!), but previously this year we've been at around 0 to -20 F.

:lol Zesty I think your going to have to factor in your in a whole different part of the world! More North you go, less heat definitely. Its has been a low of 25 and sometimes pretty warm with the sun. I would just layer up and pray for Heat! :D

Oh what I'd give for a 62 degree day!! We got back up to 50 this past weekend but thats not taking the windchill into effect. It's staying down in the upper 20's to 30's for the most part now.

hey Zesty, it gets so cold in some parts of the country in which i have lived i had to just stop and chuckle just a bit. at this moment i am in texas and the temperature is in the fifties. which is a wonderful temperature as far as i am concerned.

i lived in a village in alaska during the nineties that was so cold that a cup of coffee i had in my hand was thrown into the air and the doffee crystalized before it could get to the ground. the temperature was minus 84 below zero.

that year was 1988. it was december and just a few days before i went to hawaii to try and get work on H-3 in honolulu. the day i left fairbanks it had a low of -70 and we left fairbanks airport it was about fourty below. i arrived in honolulu it was about 79 or 80 degrees and i was in a world of hurt. i was sweating like a norweigian trying to tell the truth.(by the way i am a norskie)

it is all what you get used to. i know that i have said to many people over the years that anything over sixty is hot for me.

the one thing that i do know is that it is easier to keep warm than it is to cool off. that is why i have, over the years, purchased thousands of dollars worth of clothes to stay warm but must stay inside to cool off in hawaii.

thanks for starting this thread. your comments are and have been good for me.!!

Oh you wimp! 62º is just about a perfect temperature as far as I am concerned. I am used to hot weather. I lived in Tucson, AZ, for 15 years where 100º+ temperatures are frequent in the summer, and now live in the largest sauna in the world. Winter is welcome...most of the time.

It has been in the 40s for the high recently, though it is starting to warm up again. Monday will be low 40s for the high.

cwcad,

Good point. Much easier to layer the clothing to warm up than it is to remove clothing to cool off. You could walk around naked here in the summer and still not be cool.

thats insane!! i havent heard anything like that before. i guess were lucky in hawaii, our temperature doesnt really fluctuate at all. we're always between 70-85, all 4 seasons. that sucks is, theres no "real" seasons in hawaii :(

its a nice and comfortable 75 degrees rite now :)

I would be more then happy with 62 right now. This morning it was in the teens with chill factor. Going down to 23 tonight so put them jammies on.:lmfao

We've been in to the 20's to 40's in the past couple of weeks, and the salt is killing the CRX ('80's cars hate salt). That's it! I'm moving to Hawaii. See you all soon. :notpossib

Hilton Head a sauna??? It is too humid there to be a sauna...remember a sauna is dry heat. Tucson & Las Vegas are saunas.

If you are referring to a steam room...Hilton Head gets pretty warm & muggy but nothing like Charleston or New Orleans in August.

I hate southern summers. So friggin' humid! Don't know about you, but I do not like being wet after working outside for five minutes.

Here in south Texas it was so cold in the morning this week that when I washed one of my regular customers cars it iced up. Only the roof and trunk.
My hands were so cold they were bright red. couldn’t get the ice off in time so my customer went to work the only car with ice on it.

It's 14 with snow on the ground here, so much for getting one more detail in before the season is upon us.
