What do you guys think about business that uses expensive products to detail your car, like swisswax and wolfgang (expensive carpet exctracktors and etc..like very good product that is respected on autopia.,..uses lots of profesional detailing brushes and over all, look like a profesional detail shop, with even emploee shirts of this detail busienss logos on shirt, always clean and shop is very very clean., good paint polishing. And also does very good jobs on interior detailing. Does work slower but better then any around. Very good customer service and always very nice to customers, owner works with emploees. How much business do you expect? Sacramento area.

Also training sertificates for all emploees and good ofice with free cofee drinks and some kind of snak. Target: customer satisfaction and more, make as much friends customers by doing it.

I think regardless of what products you use, it is important to project a professional image like you stated. If you do not, you are just like 80% of the "detail" companies out there. As long as you get quality results, I see no need to use the expensive boutique products.

At least 75% of your business will be in the form of people that don't care what kind of brushes you are using. They won't even know the difference between Swisswax and Turtle Wax. Ultimately your work will have to speak for itself. It will be the work you do on cars that produces the "word of mouth" that will bring you more customers.

If you are in a shop then the outward appearance of your shop will help to show a customer what kind of work you do. Meaning that if you are meticulous about keeping your shop clean then the cars you detail should follow suit.

Good customer service will also help to build a better "following" to your business. The better people feel about you as a person and the work you do the more they will want to come back and the more they will tell others about you.

Be careful about telling people how much better you are than other detailers. It lends an aire of petiness to your business. It might be true...but you don't want to get caught up in that kind of publicity. Your work will speak for itself and it will take time. Don't get caught up in the "who is better" game as it will only lead you to worrying more about what others are doing and will casue you to loose sight of what's going on in your own shop.

I have been detailing in Sacramento for four years now and have a wonderful customer base. It continues to grow every year and I can honestly say that I am as happy with my customers as they are with me. I do this part time so I only detail on the weekends. I don't advertise so all my business comes from word of mouth and it has worked out wonderfuly for four years! As of right now I am booked through mid May.

Just something to think about for ya......Good luck with your business!!
