How about a Mazda?

Airbags are overated. They will give you a false sense of security.

Maybe in your family, but most responsible parents will want the best protection and as many safety features as possible for their child, especially a new driver. I pray the parents in question won't rule out airbags for their daughter based on an irrational opinion.

A false sense of security usually comes with a lack of common sense, or a lack of respect for what can happen in a head on collision.

I think the OP has already decided on a late model there B'Fire, but thanks for your opinion....Boo Hoo

What a poor attitude you have toward others. As if your opinion is the only one that matters and is the correct advice.

I'll make this my last visit and final purchase here.

I have a 2010 Mazda3, and it is an excellent car.

Here is a thread I made last fall. The paint quality on the 2010's seems to be pretty good, and this car has the potential to look AWESOME!

Thanks man, I remember looking your car and thinking it was cool. Looking at those pictures again and I sure wish it was summertime - I haven't seen green in a long time. The 3 is our number one choice right now, we're planning on doing some test drives soon.

Had to buy my own car when I was a teenager. That definitely limited my choices. Lawn mowin' money sure didn't go very far.

I had worked for my uncles farming tobacco for years, my first car was a used Camaro that I bought from my girlfriend's brother for $2,300.00. (year was 1975) He did to me what I had been doing to her - except there was no "happy ending", Ii sold it later after replacing brakes, transmission, couple tires......

Same here. Started working at McD's about a week after I turned 14. That job was awful, but my parents straight up told me that they will not be buying a car for me, or paying for gas/insurance so I just kept telling myself this is for a car :)

I ended up buying a a '96 Olds Cutlass Supreme 2dr (the thing is a freakin' tank) about 2 weeks after my 16th bday. I then proceeded to turn in my 2 weeks notice at McD's and work as a stock boy at a local grocery store. Now that was a good job :)
