Hose shutoff... anyone used Adams-type Dramm shutoff?

Just received the Dramm shutoff in the mail. Great quality, as everybody said. The lever does clear the Griot's quick connects (they don't have the big plastic collar rings). The brass one is a little heavy (might go to aluminum later), but I can tell it's going to be great for switching between hose sprayer and pressure washer, etc.

I just bought another one of these from Growers Solutions on Amazon. Unfortunately the bag arrived but the valve didn't. I sent them an email Saturday night and they shipped a replacement Monday morning. Growers Solutions

This is one of those things I have to keep a spare for, not because I expect it to fail because I don't but because I like the way it works so much I don't want to have to be without it if the one I have gets lost, stolen, or given away to a friend.

Yeah- lost, loaned, given away... that's why I have 3 cheap hose sprayers instead of the crazy-expensive anodized red firehose sprayers... and the cheap sprayers can turn backwards behind fenderwell edges.

I, OTOH, have a scad of the red-anodized ones that people kept giving me as gifts! Must have at least six of 'em and they hardly ever get used.

That's one reason why I seldom use a sprayer nozzle *at all*. Most often I just use a plastic quick-disconnect, the mushroom-shaped kind with a built-in shutoff. Does everything I want a nozzle to do and is small, easily manipulated, and pretty safe in case of an "oops!".

I use all brass disconnects on everything. It makes switching between pressure washer, Adam's nozzle, garden sprayer, and cut off hose used to sheet water off.

Yeah, I do keep *one* nozzle set up for the plastic disconnects just for convenience, but while I use those for my "nozzles" I rely on the brass ones for actually connecting my various components.

IIRC, I've worn out three or four (between the M & F fittings) over the years, and I bought most of mine way back in the '80s.

I tried shutoffs and kept going back to the Ultimate Hose Nozzle . Reasons;

A) shuts off both directions

B) no metal or plastic handles to break or scratch /chip the paint.

C) I can shut it off and just drop it without fear of breaking it.(saves time)

Huh... cool. Those seem nice, but I always need something to use up behind the fenderwell edges and wells, so I like the "trigger" style for that. Snap-On has one for $20.00 thal looks cheap and unspecial but it blasts and really holds up.

To update- the Dramm shutoff is great! Man, it was a missing link and I should have bought it sooner.

I find *all* hose nozzles too big and cumbersome for that, even though I almost always jack the car up a bit for added access.

It is great. With the Dramm and disconnects you can switch out to your favorite sprayer: trigger, adam's nozzle, sheeting hose, pressure washer.

I've had one for years and it's worked very well. I'd shop though.

I always use a Bon-Aire nozzle with a shutoff.

Using the Bon-Aire alone requires two hands to shut it off and you're constantly fiddling with it to reset the flow rate and pattern.

With the shutoff I can hold the nozzle and turn the flow on/off with one hand. And I can leave the nozzle set for the specific pattern and flow I need.
