I just moved to central florida and do not have any rapport with the community and have started my own detailing business. Business has been going well and my customers are very satisfied with my work, Many of them have said that its better than any detail they've had done. I am starting to get a lot more high end customers just in the month I have been open full time. I even got a job doing John Travolta's Hummer and his neighbors car. I work at a rate of $30 an hour. I work alone so Im not splitting the profit but there is a lot of competition in the area and I am trying to offer services and guarantee's that most other detailers will not. I had a client ask me to wash the outside of his 17ft horse trailer the other day, and I knew I had the products for it but I didnt know how to price it. So I looked it over and quoted him $30 for thr job. It took me an hour and 80 gallons of water. I live in Ocala Florida and there are more horses here per capita than any other place in the country, so it could be a great service to offer.
But most of the horse trailers here are much larger than 17ft and I only have a 125 gallon tank of water. Do you think its going to be more trouble than its worth to offer this service? Or should I offer it but explain that I will need a water hookup for such a large job? Also is $12 a foot too much to charge for RV detailing? I detailed the exterior of a 36ft RV on tuesday and it took me and a friend 9 full hours. I charged $400 and he gave a $50 tip. Do any other mobile detailers take on such large jobs?
Thanks for all the help.
